    Meade TE688W reviews

Personal Weather Station with Atomic Clock is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 25.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Unit at a reasonable cost! I live in a remote area at almost 5000ft elevation and accurate forecasts, even by NOAA, are non existant. I use a more sophisticated unit to provide those forecasts. This station was purchased for the lower level of the house to give basic info at a quick glance. I was surprised at how close the readings were between the two units. You can even manually set your altitude to get a more accurate pressure reading. I'm surprised at other comments about having difficulty in setting up the unit. All you have to do is put batteries in the remote, hit the reset then put batteries in the main unit. Wait about 8min and all the basic info is ready to go.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent weather station for the money. This is an excellent weather station that covers all the basics with its atomic clock, inside and outside temperature and humidity readings with minimum and maximum for a selected period, barometric pressure reading and other features. I also like it as it is unobstrusive, not too large and looks good on a table or dresser. I have owned it for almost one year. The remote function is one of the easiet to activate. The manual could be improved. I looked at many weather stations before I bought this one. This one was the best I could find for the price

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Tons of Features - Missing Just One I purchased this weather station and an additional remote sensor to use in my home so I can monitor my children's room temp and humidity at night to help them sleep more comfortably. I don't really need the weather function, but it is easy to read. I like that the clock and calendar are automatically set by the atomic clock. The biggest draw back is there is no backlight on the screen. So at night I have to get a light out to see the screen. My previous weather station had a big backlight button on top that was very convienent. Still happy with the weather station and the multiple remote sensors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great - once you get it set up This weather station is one of many over the years for me and I love them. It gives you a pretty accurate idea of what might happen each day and you are updated each time you look at it rather than waiting for the 6 o'clock news. I really like the barometric graph as it gives you a better indication of the trend for the day than anything else. And knowing the temps in and out is always of interest. My 2 complaints are for the lack of a backlight and of the instructions - not very user friendly, as I said, I have had many of these over the years and this was the most difficult to get set up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great product The screen is easy to read, the sensors work from more than 50 feet away from the main unit, never lost connection. I like that displays also the humidity not just the temperature.I would prefer to have all tree points of mesurement displayed at the same time, Unfortunatelly you can see displayed just the main temperature (and humidity) and the info from one additonal sensor at any given time (I have the temperature in the house, outside and in my cellar, a set up with two sensors)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Lots of data. Too much data. This is a nice unit that has atomic clock, plus inside and outside temperature. One of the only units I found with inside and outside humidity. The display is a little hard to read from off angles, but that is pretty standard. My problem is that there is too much data displayed. Actually I have a post-it note covering the top 40% which contains usless data. I only want the time and temp. The unit is also hard to configure, and comes with poor instructions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice unit for the money This weather station is adequate to collect basic weather data. It will record and hold the high and low temperature and humidity levels from your last reset. It also records diferentials in the barometric pressure over the last 24 hours using a flashing bar indicator or, gives an hour by hour readout using the mem/history button. The flashing bar indicator can also be programed to show the last 24 hr. temperature or humidity movement. The atomic clock works well providing an accurate time source. The temp, BP and RH readings have proven to be very accurate when compared to current weather data from the NWS which is near my home. The range on the remote sensor is excellent with no reception problems anywhere in my two story home. On the down side. The instructions could be clearer. Before you even install the batteries, I would advise that you read all instructions starting from the first page. Do not start skipping around and you shouldn't have a problem. The weather forecast feature is gimicky. As best I can tell, it forcasts clouds or rain when the BP is falling and clearing when the BP is rising. Pretty basic stuff. One caution. Do not place the weather station on a table close to a cordless phone. For some reason it will kill the signal reception from the remote sensor and cause a loss of data. If it happens, the reception can be restored by pushing and holding the down button. I moved the station approximately 6' from the phone and the problem went away. Overall, I am pleased with this product and would recommend it as a good buy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does what it says it does I've had it in use for about a week now and I'm happy with the performance/accuracy of this unit. Mounting the outside sensor takes some consideration for placement though as what is around and below the sensor does affect the readings. I like being able to see the outdoor temp and humidity indoors before heading out the door. The bar graph barometer is useful for predicting a coming change in weather.
