Granite 8x42 Binocular is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 12.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent value optics -sharp and bright I use these binoculars primarily for birdwatching. I also own a pair of Nikon 8x42 Monarch 5 binoculars, which I also like. They are on par in terms of optical quality (both being bright and sharp). Notwithstanding the extra goodies that come in the box, I give a slight edge to the Celestron Granite because it feels more natural to hold (in my case) and its operations are very smooth (especially when adjusting the interpupillary distance). This is truly a hidden gem!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Crisp Bright Image at a Great Price These are my first binoculars with ED glass. I have been using Nikon Trailblazers. The difference in image quality is immediately noticeable. The image is very crisp and the colors just seem to pop. They gather light very well and are a joy to view in near dusk conditions when I want to look for owls. I can change the focal point from 10' to 400' with about a 3/4 turn adjustment. I can't detect any distortion at all. These feel good in my hands. There are flat spots for finger holds which make them feel more secure. They come with a neck strap and a harness. for convenience and security. The pop down lens covers are very convenient and do not interfere with viewing. B&H even offered a cleaning pen with the deal. My only complaint is that I would have preferred a hard case to the soft one provided. But overall, I love these binoculars.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Binos Celestron makes top-quality telescopes and this is evident in these Granite 8x42s. I'm a long-time astronomy buff and these binos provided superb, wide-field views of star clusters, nebulae and galaxies. Mind you, I was at the North Rim of the Grand Canyon at 8400 ft elevation. But still, the views were better than expected. The wide field also made it easy for novice observers to find these objects. Daytime views are bright and the field of view is stunning. The binos are comfortable to hold and work well for eyeglass wearers. I did a tremendous amount of research on binos before finally settling on these Granites. By far, the best value going. Highly recommended and couldn't be happier with my purchase. And thanks again to B&H's customer service for expediting my order!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful These are an upgrade from the Nikons I've been using for the past few years. I use them mainly for birding. They are terrific. Crystal clear image. I felt like my old bins distorted colors, not a lot but in shadowy spots it was enough to interfere with IDing birds. These are comfortable, not too heavy, and so reasonably priced. I was looking at a few other products in the $500-$750 range but after reading the reviews I went with these and I am so happy I did. Love them!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exactly what I expected! Perfect design, feels very comfortable in the hands. In my personal opinion, and like owner, it is almost identical like specs with Bushnell 8x42 Legend L-Series but with a bit more sharp focus, maybe because of the Open Bridge design. Don't hesitate, buy it, you can't find better for this price.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Again a Great Value for Top Quality I am convinced that the name Celestron is the best kept secret when it comes to top quality binoculars. I have owned two Celestron telescopes that have given me great joy and satisfaction for many years because of their optical quality known the world over. Why not try their binoculars? With this in mind, more than 15 years ago I decided to buy a pair of Celestron Regal 8 x 42 roof prism binoculars for birding that performed very well when compared to both pairs my popular Swift Audobon 8.5 x 44 porro prism binoculars, one with ED glass, the other without. After this positive experience, it wasn't difficult for me to take a good hard look at the new Celestron Granite 8 x 42 binoculars. After field testing these, the ED glass and phase coating sure make a difference. The sharpness to the edge and clarity are terrific, not to mention the true color saturation, brightness and contrast. As always, the price for such top quality is unbeatable. No one else can compete! Period! Again, Celestron hits another homerun!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from AFFORDABLE BINOCULAR THAT DELIVERS WE HAVE TWO PAIR OF THESE BINOCULARS. THE COMBINATION OF WIDE FIELD OF VIEW AND STEADY IMAGE IS UNBEATABLE. WHAT YOU EXPECT IN A VERY EXPENSIVE BINOCULAR IS EDGE TO EDGE SHARPNESS, FINE DETAIL OF MACHINING, WATERPROOFING, ANTIFOGGING, LGHT WEIGHT, AND BEAUTY. THIS IS NOT AN EXPENSIVE BINOCULAr. It's from people who have been making precision affordable telescopes for decades. it's got the edge to edge sharpness, it's corrected for chromatic aberration, the glass is ED top quality, and the alignment is very precise. These are the features you need--and Celestron Granite has them. The beautiful leather body, the finely machined focus knob you don't get, but the money went to the right place in this design, which is the image. Compared with another similar binocular at double the price, we found the Granite to have better focus control and superior eye relief, with equal or better optical performance. After many years of working at nature photography and using the most expensive optics, we are relieved to be able to spend less and enjoy high quality images from Celestron's design team.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Gift I gave these to my husband as a gift. He has already used them at a Nascar race and to watch ships sail the Chesapeake Bay. He wears bifocals and the Celestron Granite binocular has worked well with his glasses on or off. They are a bit heavier than he would like, but thats a testament to their quality construction. They arrived very quickly and were packaged well. I have always been happy with my purchases from this seller.
