Celestron 71189-A overview

  • 1Description

The Oceana 7x50 Binocular from Celestron is a waterproof binocular designed for marine use with rubber covering and nitrogen purged for all weather protection. An illuminated compass for direction finding, a reticle for distance measurement, and a convenient center focus system make this a very practical binocular.

BAK-4 prisms and fully multi-coated optics provide ultra sharp images with high contrast and resolution. The internal mil reticle can be used to calculate the view angle, the horizontal view angle, the vertical view angle and the distance. The reticle uses 10 mils for each number. It consists of a vertical and horizontal scale intersecting above the compass degree scale. A calculator dial for quick distance measurement is located inside one of the tethered lens caps. Used in tandem with the reticle the distance to an object is determined quickly and easily. This binocular has an aluminum body and is fitted with a threaded mount for use with a tripod.

    Celestron 71189-A reviews

Oceana 7x50 Binocular is rated 3.0 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would recommend this item to a friend I purchased these to use on the water, either coastal or bay sailing. I specifically wanted, the compass and range finder features, for piloting and navigation purposes. The added compass aids in finding the bearing of on shore fixed and charted objects, for a line of position relative to the bearing course of the vessel, while the range finder when used on charted objects where the hight is given, helps in determining the distance off shore, along that same line of position. I am very satisfied with this purchase. These are quality binoculars at a very reasonable cost.
