Tokina 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 overview

  • 1Description

This ultra wide-angle Tokina AT-X 107 AF NH Fisheye 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 Lens for Canon delivers the ultimate in wide-angle drama for your Canon camera. A 180° view at the 10mm setting takes in more than the human eye sees, with a typical dramatic curvature of field. At the 17mm end of the zoom, it's a very wide-angle lens.

This lens may be used with cameras using APS-C size sensors, and with cameras using full-frame sensors. A full corner-to-corner image can be achieved on a full-frame (FX) camera between approx. 14.5-17mm depending on the camera model--at 10-14mm the image doesn't cover the entire frame, and there's a semi-circular view. Additionally, this NH (no hood) version of the lens lacks a built-in lens hood in order to provide greater coverage and less vignetting on full-frame cameras, as well as to extend the lens's compatibility with underwater housings.

This very useful lens contains one super-low dispersion glass element, helping to make the lens compact, lightweight (12.3 oz/350g) and fast focusing. The front element has a Water Repellent (WR) optical coating which makes removing water spots and fingerprints much easier. The lens differs from the AT-X 107 DX in that the built-in hood has been removed allowing for a wider image area and more coverage on full-frame sensor (FX) cameras.

    Tokina 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 reviews

AT-X 107 AF NH Fisheye 10-17mm f/3.5-4.5 Lens for Canon is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 21.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clean and Crisp on Canon 7D Crop Body I bought this product a few weeks ago for use with my Canon 7D crop body camera which I use for shooting in-water surf photography. After reading all the previous reviews it seemed that this would be the best fit and it hasn't dissapointed. Very wide angle with little circular distortion on my crop body camera (haven't used on full frame). Sturdy design with fast autofocus. The variability of shooting from 10mm-17mm makes for a nice range when shooting different types of waves. The only negative of this lens is the cap -that many other people referenced- which is not as snug and has the tendency to fall off when walking with the camera in your hand.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Fish-eye for APS-C DSLR This is my first fish-eye lens and I love it. This is suitable for both APS-C and full frame camera's. On APS-C camera, vignetting is remarkably low. Distortion is large, but in a good way (it's a fisheye!).I also tried this one on my friend's 5D2 and it was great although only 15mm-17mm could be used for full frame. Only problem I found is that the lens do have a little bit high chromatic aberration associated with high contrasts.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great and fun lens to own. Versatile for so many types of shooting. Purchased primarily for underwater shots of large critters such as sharks and dolphins, etc. but have found it great for landscape, wildlife (closeup encounters), portraits and even macro. Not a lens for all occasions but a great lens to use in the right applications. I've found so many more opportunities for it than I was expecting and really enjoying it. Some have mentioned it isn't marked where it lines up with the camera body but with a little experience or touch of paint it isn't a problem.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Happy Compared to a pro series canon fisheye -has a better MTF chart -less than half the price -minimal loss being 10-17 8-15 being a specialty lens for an active photographer, this hoodless version for my 6D's (and other full frame cameras)is perfect. I find it to have high contrast(probably due to the wide angle), good color representation, super close macro abilities, and good sharpness throughout.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from My first fisheye I purchased this lens for surf photography, but have yet to have the opportunity to use it for that yet. I have had the chance to play around with it to make a couple time lapse segments and I have also used it to photograph landscapes and the love the super wide angle. Seems to focus a little slow, but other than that its a great lens and I love it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Crisp and Clear This is an amazing lens. You do need to know that it is a specialized lens, but is almost perfect. There are times when CA can be present, but if you are careful, Lightroom can fix it when it does show up.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from tokina fisheye 10-17mm got this fisheye to go with my canon 7D because it works well with 1.6 crop sensor. The pictures are amazing i use it to shoot waves with my sol water housing and absolutely love it!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Good lens, only one problem Nice lens, good light and good quality. Just one problem, and it really stupid, I dont understand how the miss it. The lens cap has nothing to attach to the lens rather than a very soft magnetic, nos swithm neither a slot for a grip. You have to be care because it will fell down easily
