    Epson B11B189011-N reviews

Perfection V500 Flatbed Photo Scanner is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 532.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Looks like quality and is quality My old H.P.scanner after 8 years of frequent use finally died . Perfection V 500 was given good reviews by B and H customers. I found set up was extremely easy compared with the old scanner. I have over 5000 black and white negs. which I have wanted to print. The old scanner never gave me the quality I wished for . The V 500 allows me to print my negs up to 11 x 14 with no appreciable loss of sharpness and is 3 x quicker than my old scanner. I am extremely pleased with the quality of all the scans from 35 mm.slides to colour and b&w negs and scans of photographs . I give the V 500 ten out of ten .Excellent quality.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Knock your socks off! I am using this to restore photos, mainly snapshots, of my own kids going back to 1978, and to preserve family photos from 1942 on. The photo restoration option is unbelievable as it turns those orange hued monsters into their original colors. Yes, it can be somewhat slow, in particular when you are scanning at 1200 dpi. But what's a few minutes extra when scanning prints that are nearly 70 years old? And when used with a professional editing program, any detail softness is restored using sharpening features (unsharp mask) to the point that the final product is as good as having scanned the original negative with a high-priced film scanner.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scanner I took a chance on this scanner since I already had a HP Photosmart 3210 (printer, scanner, etc). The HP always produced foggy scans of slides and there always seemed to be a glitch (some slides would scan and others would not !) The V500 really does the trick and offers some fairly easy options for doctoring up your scans before the scanning begins (such as contrast and color). The slides sit right on the glass and are not 'snapped' to the holder, as with the HP, and that may account for some of the problems the HP scanner presented. I also simply loaded the scans to my own Mac Iphoto editing and touched them up a bit. I was also impressed with the ease with which I could make PDF files, with multiple pages.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Scanner Great alternative to expensive Nikon scanners out there. I use it mainly for my 120 black and white film negatives and scan at 2400 with great results. Make sure you choose correct medium format negative size 6x6 6x7 6x9 6x4.5 so the scanner can recognize the negs correctly. For 35mm it is not bad but better for medium format. I now can process and scan in the comfort of my own home without letting someone else decide how my final digitized image is going to look. It takes a while to scan 6x9 negative at 2400 about 3 minutes but the results are worth it. If you are making money with this scanner you are better off buying Nikon 9000 one.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best scanner that I have had out of 3 The scanner worked great right out of the box. I have used it for both prints and slides. I like the Epson software. I have value ValuScan but have not been inclined to use it because the Epson software is more than adequate. The histogram is easily adjusted right there and Color Restoration does good job so the print usually needs no other adjustment. I like the fact that I can make adjustments to each slide individually and then it scans all four. The speed is adequate unless one is using ICE. When not using ICE the loaded 4 slides are scanned by the time I get 4 more selected and prepped. I have not used it for negs. ICE is really slow but I expected that. Fortunately I do not have to use that very often.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty much everything I wanted This scanner hit the perfect point in terms of scan resolution and price. I bought it for 120 film, and the scanner come with two (kinda flimsy) plastic trays for 120 film, 135 film, and slides. This tray was great for the scans. I can easily create 6400dpi scans of my 645 images, they do take a while at that size, but that isn't so much an issue. What is annoying is a 6x7 negative, you can only scan one at a time. Unless I'm missing something on the limitations of the hardware, the device could scan two if the plastic tray was longer. That being said, the thing feels robust, and the images come out wonderfully. Hopefully I'll be using this thing for years to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfection V500 is Perfect! I purchased this scanner primarily for 35mm, and 120 film scanning purposes, and I was surprised at how well it performed in comparison to other scanners that I've used in the past. I love how quickly it scans images at high resolution, and the digital ICE feature helps remove most of the scratches and dust that negatives can collect. The scanned images have brilliant color and tones, and I am very much satisfied with the quality of the high resolution scans. The software is relatively user-friendly and easy to install; the scanner also came with a current version of Photoshop Elements. Overall I would say that this is an excellent product that delivers professional results.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfection V500. A great scanner. I am a photographer who still loves and uses film. I scan in the 35mm negatives on the V500 and then do my editing with photoshop. The entire process could not be any simpler and easy to use. The quality of the scans is out of this world and the operation of the scanner is flawless. Of course you can still scan in regular documents if desired and output them to any program you wish, but where this scanner really shines for me is in the negative film scanning. If you purchase this scanner, you will not be disappointed.
