Top quality Canon quality, great build strength. The Canon 77mm Protector Filter is designed to be transparent and not significantly affect image quality. However, using any additional glass on the front of your lens can introduce a minor amount of optical degradation. Overall a winner in my book. A standard practice I have is to take the lenses from the box and immediately put a filter on day #1.

I purchased this to protect the front element of my 100-400mm ii from scratches, dust, smudges etc. It serves that purpose. Note that filters will not protect from impact damage - Steve Perry from Backcountrygallery has a good demo on his youtube channel about that. Given that I'm not expecting that, this filter serves my needs; it is quite expensive, but I wouldn't want to reduce my IQ with cheap glass, so it is what it is.

I needed something for the protection for my lens so I won't waste a lot of time cleaning or protecting my lens for excessive sunlight and dust debris so I found this filter, nothing more I can say except this filter works really well, and coming from Canon itself I will not be disappointed.

This filter feels well built, and fit perfectly on my Canon RF 85mm lens. Professional reviews indicate it has top tier light transmission (as good as B+W but at a lower cost), and since putting it on my lens I haven't noticed anything out of the ordinary with ghosting or flaring, etc. It arrived extremely well packed and protected from B&H and shipping time was excellent. I'd buy it again and will definitely be using more Canon filters in the future.

don't put a cheap uv or other filter on your canon lens. This filter glass should have the same qualities as your canon lens.All my lenses have canon protect filters and Im glad they do.

Since the SX500IS does not have filter threads, this filter will not fit. You may be able to find a third-party filter adapter online, but B&H does not carry it at this time.

The Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM lens accepts a 77mm filter. With that said, the B+W 77mm XS-Pro UV Haze MRC-Nano 010M Filter B&H # BWUVXSP77 would be a better choice in terms of size and offers a thinner ring to prevent vignetting. Please see the image below for reference.
