Don't want to buy a television but want to watch TV? Here's a super-cool solution: The HDHR3-US HDHomeRun Dual TV Tuner from SiliconDust. With the HDHomeRun Dual TV Tuner, you can watch either ClearQAM or ATSC TV in 1080i HD TV on multiple computers that are on your wireless network. With a (separately purchased) DVR program on your computer, you can go also beyond watching these TV formats live. You can record, pause, and rewind either format and in 1080i, if broadcast in that resolution. With a supported DVR program, you can also schedule and then record all your favorite upcoming TV shows. If supported with your DVR program, you can also peruse through a TV guide.
In more logistical terms, this TV tuner has a built-in Fast Ethernet port so that you can connect it to your network router, and let the router stream the content to your wirelessly connected computers. If you want to watch ATSC DTV, you will need to use an antenna with the tuner. If you want ClearQAM, you will need to connect the tuner to your TV cable line. You can do one or the other with this tuner, not both at the same time. You can however connect multiple HDHomeRun Dual TV tuners to your network and the tuners will automatically be allocated between computers as needed.* If you want to say goodbye to the TV set but still want to watch ATSC or ClearQAM television, say hello to SiliconDust's HDHR3-US HDHomeRun Dual TV Tuner!
Note: *Select DVR programs support this function: Windows Media Center, BeyondTV, SageTV, GBPVR, MediaPortal, and TotalMedia
Connects to Your Network
Because the HDHomeRun Dual connects to your router, you can access the tuner from any computer, anywhere in your home that connects to your network through the router
Use an antenna to pick up the free broadcast Digital TV (ATSC) available in your area, such as ABC, CBS, FOX, NBC, PBS, among other networks. Most locations have additional subchannels carrying kids programming, classic TV, weather channels and more; all of which are available for no monthly fee
You can also connect your HDHomeRun Dual directly to the incoming cable line to receive the unencrypted digital cable ("ClearQAM") channels your cable provider offers
The HDHomeRun Dual streams the full-quality digital stream from the broadcaster or cable provider, ensuring that you get the highest quality possible, including 720p and 1080i HDTV when available
Do More than Watch
You can watch, pause, record, and rewind live TV, depending on the DVR program installed on your computer
