  • 1Description

The Cinevate Titan Swing-Away Matte box is a height-adjustable swing-away matte box that consists of a small and large top flag, 2 side flags, 5 Lens Donuts, 2 rotating 4 x 4 frames, 3 shoe mounts, 16:9 matte and 4:3 matte, two 15mm solid carbon fiber uprights, and a Titan Rails Bracket.

With a small and large top flag and 2 side flags, the matte box prevents excess light from reaching the camera lens. The 5 lens donuts block unwanted light between lenses and the matte box.

The Titan Swing-Away Matte box has two rotating 4x4 frames, which can be adjusted for ND grad or polarizer filters. With 3 shoe mounts and mounting points for Cinevate’s 15mm rails blocks, the matte box can support camera rigs up to 40 lb (18.14kg). Equipped with 16:9 and 4:3 matte, the matte box supports 16:9 and 4:3 aspect ratios.

Also provided with the matte box are two 15mm solid carbon fiber uprights for additional support and stability.

    Cinevate Inc CIMBAS000004 reviews

Titan Swing-Away Matte Box is rated 2.5 out of 5 by 2.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from i am disappointed SUPER Heavy for a DSLR CANON 5D Mark II! and it has plastic filter holders that will easily break! Moreover, side doors are extremely difficult to hold in place without damaging the black pain. If you want me to speed my work what don't you just make it plug and hold. Or make a real hole on the metal so it stays in place! Also to get it to swing away you have to unscrew with an Allen key DAAAAA! 3 minutes to make it swing away! Just add a magnet or something to speed my work, this have make my work. I don't need another problem in production!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from almost sent it back, but I am keeping it forget the pro aim, and don't waste the money on red rock micro MB, for a little more the Cinevate is really the way to go without spending a huge chunk on a MB. The build quality is astounding! Compared to the very breakable, flimsy construction of the RR Micro MB this Cinevate MB is a very nice piece of equipment that also gives you top rail mounts and hot shoe mounts. I saw one review complaining about the swing away feature, I don't think this guy got it, but mine works beautifully. There is a safety lock, that very easily screws out by thumb and there's a hole next to it to keep it near the lock, the magnet is very strong and the swing away works just fine. So, why did I almost return it? A) The rod clamps for mounting the rails require an extra firm tightening in order to secure it on the rails, at first I thought mine was a lemon as I had them tightened but it still moved on the rails. B) To change the 4;3 matte to the 16:9 you need a particular screw driver, I was trying all of my screw drivers and was getting very frustrated, finally I just took it to my guy at the hardware store and he showed me the correct screw driver. C) This 'fully height adjustable' claim is FALSE. I had asked them about using a battery grip and if I needed a riser and they assured me I didn't. Low and behold, when I adjusted the height I ran into serious problems with the filter trays hitting the top bracket of the MB, and thus was unable to rotate them. I solved this by loosening the Allen screws on the top bracket and sliding the bracket up a little over the end of the rods that hold it in place. This is one solution, another would be to get a riser or longer placement rods. D) Finally, I was hoping that the filter trays would be independent of each other when rotating, but I wasn't too surprised to find that they aren't as most MBs don't offer this. But there is a work around if you wanted to stack a polarizer with an ND grad. After all this I still kept the MB, because its quality is unlike anything else you will get for around this price range. The build of the box and the filter trays are heavy duty. The swing away feature is superb. The top bracket for extra rails is a very nice feature. Don't go pro aim, you will get a cheap plastic looking and functioning MB, and don't go RR Micro, you will get a cheap plastic looking and functioning MB. If you want to stay under the 1 grand mark, this is definitely the way to go and I am (after all that) very happy with this MB.
