Rated 4 out of 5 by from Cinevate Top Handle After looking around quite a bit for various top handles for my shoulder rig, I ordered the Cinveate Top Handle. Couple reasons were 1) I know Cinevate makes great products, and 2) I felt the aesthetic would match nicely with the rest of my rig... To jump straight to the bottom line, scroll to the bottom of this comment! The product works perfectly, just as advertised, and the fact that it comes with 2 extra carbon fiber rails is AWESOME! While they're not big enough to be used for anything TOO significant, they are helpful in order to mount 1 or 2 extra peripherals off of. What I had NOT thought about before ordering this, was my mounting point. I use a Letus Direct Talon Rig (offset shoulder rig) and my GH2 is a in a JAG35 D Cage. Now here's the problem... The rig is quite heavy as a whole, and when picking it up BY the Top Handle 1) it becomes cumbersome after 30 seconds or so and 2) because its an offset rig, the whole thing flops over to one side of the other (depending on where you mounted the handle). So after some deliberation and thinking, I figured it would be a better idea to mount this onto the top of my cage. I have a quick release plate between the cage and rig, so if I wanted to shoot tracking low angle shots by holding the camera from the top handle alone, I can now just take the cage OFF of the shoulder rig, and still have my monitor, battery, and sound recorder at my disposal (since they all mount off of the cage instead of the rig). Since it would be just the camera and a couple accessories I'd be holding up, the weight would be MUCH more manageable. It took a little bit of thinking, but I worked around the issue. All I needed was an extra rail block to mount the rails to the cage, (this is another reason I found the extra rails in the box super helpful!). The product itself is good. I haven't used too many other top handles, so it's hard to compare. But the construction is solid, it looks good. My only gripe with it would be that the handle is just too low. YES, the handle is adjustable, but in my opinion it just doesn't go high enough. When mounted on the rails of the SHOULDER RIG itself, my knuckles scrape against other parts of the shoulder rig some times. But when on the cage, this problem disappears. Bottom Line: The product is strong, works as advertised, the extra rails in the box are an awesome treat (for me at least). Whether or not I would recommend this to someone or not, comes down to the rig they are trying to build. For my uses in mounting it on my cage IT WAS PERFECT, and I wouldn't want any other handle, since they would probably be too tall, cumbersome, etc... But if I was using a straight or offset rig, and planned on mounting the handle to the rig rails, I'd probably look into something like the JAG35 Balanced Top Handle as well as this.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from I'm disappointed. I'm very disappointed. Handle has very rough abrasive painful surface and not secure lock into the bracket. Just hold-down screw. I can't entrust tens K$ such unreliable construction.
