Tiffen neutral density (ND) filters have several uses. They enable the shooter to adjust exposure without affecting color balance and reduce the amount of light reaching the film. For those who wish to create some unique and special effects, these filters will be indispensable. Create a feeling of movement by shooting a rippling stream and watching the water 'blur". Or create an impression of busy city life by shooting traffic and seeing how the cars blend into one another with a sense of swirling action. Determining which neutral density filter yields ideal results for any given lighting situation. Tiffen filters are made in the USA and backed by a 10-year warranty.

Benefits
Buying this kit saves up to 20% savings off individual filter prices
Main Uses
Neutral density filters have four main uses:

  • Enable slow shutter speeds, especially with high-speed films, to record movement in subjects such as waterfalls, clouds, or cars
  • Decrease depth of field by allowing wider apertures to be used, which helps separate subjects from their background
  • Decrease the effective ISO of high-speed film (above ISO 400) and allow it to be used outdoors in bright situations
  • Allow cine and video cameras (which have fixed shutter speeds) to film subjects such as snow, sand, or other bright scenes which could cause overexposure

question

Dear Sir,does this filter kit correct the IR pollution just like Tiffen's another ND filter with IRND marked in day time? Thanks and regards,Simon
Asked by: Anonymous
Tiffen ND filters will not correct IR pollution unless IR is indicated in the name of the filter such as the 4 x 5.65 Full Spectrum IRND 1.2 filter http://bhpho.to/1oua78J, since IR is on a different wavelength than the visible spectrum.

question

Hi, Does this kit work on alexa camera ? do anyone know what ll it look like after using at alexa ?Tks
Asked by: Yu Hon
These filters will work with an Alexa camera as long as you have a Matte Box or Filter Holder capable of holding 4x5.65 filters which are 4mm thick. You may start to see IR pollution when using the higher densities in this kit, so we recommend that you use Full Spectrum ND filters with an IR filter built in such as the ones listed below:IRND1.2<a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/572932-REG/Tiffen_45650IRND12_4x5_65_Neutral_Density_1_2.html target= _blank >http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/572932-REG/Tiffen_45650IRND12_4x5_65_Neutral_Density_1_2.html</a>IRND.9<a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/572944-REG/Tiffen_45650IRND9_4x5_65_Neutral_Density_0_9.html target= _blank >http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/572944-REG/Tiffen_45650IRND9_4x5_65_Neutral_Density_0_9.html</a>IRND.6<a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/572942-REG/Tiffen_45650IRND6_4x5_65_Neutral_Density_0_6.html target= _blank >http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/572942-REG/Tiffen_45650IRND6_4x5_65_Neutral_Density_0_6.html</a>IRND.3<a href= http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/572940-REG/Tiffen_45650IRND3_4x5_65_Neutral_Density_0_3.html target= _blank >http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/572940-REG/Tiffen_45650IRND3_4x5_65_Neutral_Density_0_3.html</a>

question

Apart from video shoot, did this filter kit work for photography as well ?
Asked by: Henry Y.
I don't know. They are ND filters and should work just the same on stills. I would suggest you contact a photographer about that to confirm.
