Also noteworthy is the Sky Tour talking handset, which offers the ultimate way to learn the layout of the universe. While the voice highlights your choice of constellations, planets, mythology, or amazing facts (in English, Spanish, or French), the telescope's Illuminated Smart Mount lights up to get you dialed in on the celestial object. The red LED display and buttons are illuminated for easy nighttime use.

With the altaz Illuminated Smart Mount you will get precise left-to-right and up-and-down motion along with illuminated dials for navigating the night sky. Also included are a Barlow lens, two CR-1620 batteries for powering the Smart Mount, and an aluminum tripod with two-section lockable legs and a quick-release accessory tray. question

There were no packing materials in the tube area of the telescope and no info found anywhere in the manual about needing to remove any foam covering the lens or other items that may need to be removed in order to see items through the telescope. The telescope has been fully assembled per instructions but we cannot see anything but blackness. And the cap cover was removed. What am I not doing?

If you have the scope facing to the sky the proper way there should not be an issue. Maybe try switching the eyepiece to a less powerful model and focusing in. That could be why you are not getting an image. The higher powered eyepieces are very shaky and dark. Also does your sky have any light pollution?
