The Heliopan 58mm Variable Gray ND Filter is a solid variable neutral density filter providing a reduction of about 1 to 6 stops. The 0.3 to 1.8 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. The degree of density is easily controlled by rotating the front filter ring, allowing you to previsualize the additional exposure length required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters do not affect the coloration of the image.

This filter features a brass mounting ring that is painted matte black to help reduce reflections. High quality Schott glass provides optical clarity and greater contrast to help render scenes with greater fidelity and resolution. This filter does not have front threads for attaching other filters.

Variable neutral density filter allows you to dial in differing amounts of density scene to scene.

58mm Variable Gray ND Filter is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 5.
Rated 2 out of 5 by from Not the best option I bought this filter to use with a compact Nikon camera. The unit itself is quite bulky and was not nearly as refined as B&W filters I've bought in the past. I needed a variable ND filter quickly however, and the B&W I wanted was on backorder, so I bought this one. The first one I received had a hair or strand of plastic in between the two pieces of glass comprising the filter. B&H was great in shipping me another one overnight so I had a replacement in time for my needs. The second one was not damaged. I would not buy a similar Heliopan in the future. I would stay with B&W

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Second to none Not much to say with regards to the Heliopan Variable ND, other than it is the best quality on the market. I use it for video and it is an essential piece of kit. It is pricey, but you get what you pay for...as they say. Only complaint/drawback is it can't except the native lens cap. But that's a cheap fix. Great item!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from The only brand of ND filters I buy I know they're expensive and yes, there are cheaper brands out there that offer great glass. But Heliopan offers a product that is of the highest quality. My only complaint is that there is no space in front for a lens cap. But I just take it off and pack it in the case they provide for it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great variable ND filter Great variable ND filter. This filter works great with no distortion even when used at the extreme ends of filter density. Would buy this again.
