METRO DataVac 117-117599 overview

  • 1Description

The DataVac Electric Duster 500P from Metro Vac uses a 500-Watt motor to remove dust and debris from your computer and electronic equipment so they continue to run at maximum efficiency. Unlike other electronics dusters that use compressed air, the Electric Duster 500P is a more cost effective and greener choice. It uses a powerful 500 Watt motor to blast dust, dirt, and debris rather than an aerosol can of compressed air. This item comes packed in a remailer carton.

    METRO DataVac 117-117599 reviews

DataVac Electric Duster 500P is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 20.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works as promised I bought a can of air to remove a lot dust and debris from a computer. I paid $6.99 for it and lasted 1 minute. Guess what. I did not finish. At $6.99 a minute I guess this is the most expensive air in the world. That is when I decided to look for an alternative and found this little marvel. Since I have 10 computers in my office I have some cleaning to do. Well, it paid for itself the first time around. DataVac electric duster 500 did the job nicely to my heart content. Canned air is expensive and bad for the environment since there is no use for the can once is emptied. With the Datavac I will save money and help the environment. I fully recommend it. It's cool and effective.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very powerfull I actually bought for my wife to use on her sewing machine. She was buying lots of canned air, so I thought this would save money in the long run. I use it on my laptop and cameras. It has a very powerfull blast of air, especially with the smaller nozzels attached. I do use it on my cameras, but the outside only, body and lenses. I don't think I would ever use it to clean the sensor or mirror. I read somewhere that a blast too powerfull can actually blow the mirror off the hinges, or embedd dust particles into the sensor, and I am not willing to take that chance. I do have a rocket blower for that and other sensor cleaning products. One thing that would make this product better is a varible speed adjustment. It would be nice to back down the power for some uses. Foam filter is easy to remove and clean. It seems well built and solid, although a little expensive for a small reverse vacuum.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Where has this thing been all my career? Essentially a powerful, reversed vacuum cleaner, this device almost eliminates the need for compressed air cans. No only that this device lacks the inconsistent output and landfill problems associated with of a can of air. I wish it was battery operated, but suspect I'd lose most of the power that makes this device so great. Wide range of accessories for cleaning seals the deal. A++

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product This device has plenty of power and had no problem cleaning two cameras and their sensors, after I returned from a 16,000-mile adventure motorcycle trip. During the trip I used one of those squeeze rockets, which are fine for portable usage, but positively feeble compared to the DataVac. The air that comes out is hot but not overly so. With respect to blowing on a camera's sensor, I'd recommend not getting too close with the nozzle but close enough to get the job done - this puts unit out a lot of air and I don't know if it is sufficient to damage a sensor. The bottom line is that it did a nice job on my cameras and cleared out months of dust, most of which came from the desert southwest.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Blow and go This is a wonderful piece of equipment that deserves a place in every photographers arsenal for better maintaining your equipment, maintain the no dust effect, sensor, lenses, computer, work space cleaning out you camera bag in and out.fans the list is endless the longer you wait the more canned air you buy. Final no moisture comes out of this thing....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from WOW - Powerful Hang on to the thing you aim it at. The cleaning power of this device goes far beyond dusting off cameras. We have several rocket squeeze balls that work well, but the DataVac has a 100 times more power when you want it. The foam filter on the base of the unit is easy to clean, the cleaning attachments are useful and the overall quality is excellent. I put off getting this sooner due to the price, but it seems to be worth what I payed.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Short time owner but love it Got the product to help clean slides and pictures. Does a nice job. Tried it for what it was designed: cleaning computers and it does a great job. Eventually cleaned all the machines in the house (6). It's a bit noisier than my ears like but I do not think it would be as powerful if it were quieter. Commenters that mention that the air gets hot are on the mark.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This Thing Blows After years of canned air, I decided to try this thing for my computers. Overall it has great output and a good variety of attachments available. I used it on my desktop/tower, media computer (Intel NUC), laptop, and speakers. However, I would NOT use this on an SLR or mirrorless camera and stick to a bulb blower with those. Unlike canned air, it does not seem to degrade in performance as its used. It does its job well, though I do want to note it is pretty noisy and can get pretty warm after a few minutes of continuous use.
