Electro-Voice RE27 Reviews

The gold standard

It's big, kinda ugly, and produces superb spoken audio (probably better than you actually need). A bit higher output than a Heil PR-40. It exudes quality (which is more than I can say for the EV matching shock mount).

While I own several microphones they each serve a particular purpose. However when I’m looking for a bright sound I pull out my RE27. That along with the BSW pop filter I’m able to get close to them microphone without worries of any plosives affecting the sound. I have rather a deep voice and not much highs in it, and it does not have much travel to it. Basically people think I’m whispering to them when I am not. So bye using the RE27 it gives my voice that clarity and presence that I’m otherwise missing. That alone made this a no brainer option for my voice and usage.

The number one!!!!

Does this require phantom power or any sort of pre-amp? I want to use this with the Sony PCM D-100 Mic input, can this work?
Asked by: Ali
It's a dynamic mic so it does not require phantom power. You will need and adapter cable as the Sony PCM D-100 does not have XLR inputs. B&H # KOXRSM06B that is the B&H part number for the cable you will need so you can plug it into your recorder.
