The 309A from Electro-Voice is a professional-quality suspension shock mount. The mount is constructed from metal and has a swiveling basket for precise mic positioning. The mount is designed to support the RE20, RE27N/D and RE320 microphones. Because these mics have internal shock mounts as well, the 309A provides an additional level of protection against unwanted vibrations.

Of course it does the job with an EV RE-27, but it is seeming much larger than needed (maybe that's to be impressive). The screw that held it together fell out and disappeared somewhere after a little use, and it being turned left and right. The manufacturer has not responded to requests to provide/sell a replacement. I'm using an old Heil shock mount that doesn't obstruct the view so much, and has never fallen apart.
Pretty big but works well
With normal use, your screws will untighten. Make sure to monitor it always or your mic will fall to the floor. Otherwise, it is well built.
I was using the original mount on a O.C. Pro Boom. It worked well but the occasional bump or thump on the desktop carried right to the mic (no suspension). This shock mount has eliminated that worry and has increased the available positions for mic placement. A great investment.
Yes it costs a buck but it supports the rather heavy EV RE20 extremely well. It looks like I mean business too. Great piece of gear.
