Nikon 25596B overview

  • 1Description

The Nikon Coolpix L18 Digital Camera provides simple operation with a compact and stylish camera body. The 8.0 megapixel resolution combined with the high quality 3x Nikkor-Zoom lens produces beautiful photographs while its intuitive operation ensures error-free command over the camera's features & functions. The large 3" LCD display offers a bright image that is a pleasure to view, even outdoors. The body itself assures a solid grip with a balance of flowing surfaces contrasted by sharp edge lines.

Extended light sensitivity as high as ISO 1600 prevents blurred shots in lower light, or when capturing fast-moving subjects. There is even an Easy Auto mode where users can turn on the camera and shoot without worrying about any settings - or users can access 14 different scene modes and three movie modes to get the best results to match the moment.

Powered by Nikon's exclusive EXPEED image processing engine, the Coolpix L18 features a selection of three innovative functions that provide the ability to actually improve the quality of images within the camera. Face-priority AF automatically finds, then focuses on people's faces for crisp, clear results time after time. In-Camera Red-Eye Fix automatically compensates to help eradicate traces of the annoying red-eye effect that can sometimes be encountered during flash photography. And D-Lighting can be applied to improve underexposed images or shots taken with too much backlight. D-Lighting automatically creates a copy of the image with detail added where necessary, but with well-exposed areas left completely untouched.

8.0 Megapixel Resolution
The Coolpix L18 can produce images with an impressively 8.0 megapixel resolution to deliver pictures with true-to-life color and pleasing details. What's more, with this high resolution, images can be significantly enlarged and still look absolutely stunning.
High Quality 3x Optical Zoom-Nikkor Lens
The Zoom Nikkor glass lens of the Coolpix L18 produces incredibly sharp, clear images; while the Macro capability of the lens lets you focus as close as 5.9 inches. In addition, there is a 4x Digital zoom providing a combined zoom capability of 12x.
Anti-Shake AE
The Anti-Shake AE mode minimizes the effect of camera shake and helps you take great pictures free of complicated operation by automatically increasing shutter speed and raising the ISO setting to compensate for camera shake and subject movement.
Easy Auto Mode
The Easy Auto mode makes photography even easier by having the camera take complete control of settings, so you simply turn on the camera and shoot without worrying about them.
High Sensitivity (ISO 1600)
Keep shooting, even in lower light with the high ISO capability of the Coolpix L18, The cameras sensitivity is completely automatic and has a range from ISO 64 all the way to an incredible ISO 1600.
Nikon In-Camera Innovations
The Coolpix L18 features a selection of three innovative functions that provide the ability to actually improve the quality of images within the camera - these include Face-priority AF, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix and D-Lighting.

  • In-Camera Red-Eye Fix
This Feature automatically fixes most instances of red-eye - right in the camera. Red-eye is commonly caused by the use of a built-in flash on a compact camera.
  • Improved Face-Priority AF
The Nikon Face-Priority AF system automatically detects and achieves sharp focus on people's faces wherever they are in the frame for crisp, sharp portraits - and now it focuses on faces faster than ever. The feature can find and focus on up to 5 faces to ensure superb group portraits.
  • Nikon D-Lighting
The Nikon D-Lighting feature can rescue underexposed images or shots taken with too much backlight by automatically creating a copy of the image, then brightening the dark areas in the picture, while the well-exposed areas are left completely untouched.
3.0" LCD Display
The high resolution 3.0-inch LCD makes it easy to compose shots and play them back anywhere and the high contrast display ensures that the display is easily viewable - even in direct sunlight. a unique feature of the coolpix L18 is the Face Zoom-in function - it zooms right in on the subject's face at playback to let you quickly check facial expressions and focus.
Compatible with AA-size Batteries
The Coolpix L18 is compatible with AA-size (LR6) batteries, which are widely available around the world. As a result, users can shoot as they like without having to worry about recharging or running out of power on an important day.
Print Directly to a Printer or Show Pictures on a TV
You can send images directly to print, without the need of a PC, when using PictBridge and USB Direct Print compatible printers, or connect directly to your TV for family slide shows and presentations - the camera can even record images in the widescreen (16:9) aspect ratio so your images fill the screen on an HDTV.

    Nikon 25596B reviews

Coolpix L18 Digital Camera (Navy) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 45.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from A great small little camera A small cheep little camera that does what I got it for. Of course you cant expect the same preformance as my Nikon D3 but thats not why I got it. The L18 is small red and looks great! Would absolutely recommend this camera to other people. I guess the camera is weakest in bad lights and also the flash in the camera isnt to good. But still its what I expect from a cheep little camera like this! Its great to bring to the party, and any time you are going out. You can always bring it with you and as said! I really recommend this camera to anyone who wants a small good little partycamera!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great point and shoot camera I purchased this camera for my elderly mother who has no photographic training and is quite the technophobe. Not only is she taking great pics but she easily navigates the menus and has started using the more advanced features of this great little camera. The 3.0 inch display is huge and makes picture taking very easy for her. I have suggested this camera to 4 other people who purchased them as gifts this Christmas and everyone loves them. The only thing this camera needs is a dedicated Li battery as a power source. The 2 AA batteries do not provide enough life.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sooooooooo easy! Wonderful for fun or serious family pics. Easy to use even for a novice like me. Love the on screen menu and all the options for the types of pics I want to take. Love the fact that I can crop and save right in the camera. Still learning but I've taken some real keepers. Thank you.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from FABULOUS I take it with me every day while I deliver the mail, in case there's a spectacular bird or plant. I only wish it had a rubber lens shield so I could diminish the extra light. Southwest Florida is bright!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice easy to use camera We purchased this camera for my son that has a muscle disease that makes his arms quite weak. Concern on weight, ease of button use and placement drove me in the direction of this camera. It has proved to be a very easy to use camera for him. The display is big and bright. The controls are very simple and easy to figure out. My only frustration with it is I would like to be able to set it manually when I use it, but I guess that's what my DSLR is for. Overall a very nice camera. Everyone in the family that has used it likes it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A Good Buy We bought the L18 for a simple carrying, go everywhere, camera. It is excellent for snap shots of friends and family and simple in operation. The only down side is that the SD card is housed in the battery compartment making card usage awkward. It does have some internal memory but it is often insufficient.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from One great little camera This inexpensive point and shoot camera is used by my beginning photography classes. With the NEW contract for any mishaps, I feel secure in allowing students to take the camera home. The 8MG pixel and zoom allows us to take high quality still photos and videos. ... I'll buy from them again and again.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My daughter loves it I bought this for my daughters birthday and am very pleased. She unfortunately has a history of losing electronic devices so I wasn't going to break the bank on this purchase - but am extremely happy with the functionality, quality and picture quality of this camera, and the price didn't hurt.
