Oben OB-1039 overview

  • 1Description

This 3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 Reducer Bushing from Oben allows you to convert any standard 3/8"-16 thread for the insertion of a standard 1/4"-20 screw. This way you can, for instance, mount a professional-style head with a 3/8"-16 threaded hole on a tripod that has a 1/4"-20 screw.

The bushing is a replacement part for Oben heads, and it will work with all Oben monopods and tripods also.

Oben OB-1039 reviews

3/8"-16 to 1/4"-20 Reducer Bushing is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 135.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Product I purchased one of these to insert in a Ball Head to make it fit onto an old MonoPod that I own. The Ball Head has a larger hole (3/8 and 16 threads per inch) and the MonoPod normally screws into my DSLR which has a smaller hold (1/4 AND 20 threads per inch). That is standard. This little screw/adapter uses the screwdriver slot (hard to see in the pic) to tighten this down into the Ball Head. The the Ball Head screws directly onto my MonoPod since it has the right size and threads. Nice little bushing....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Perfect It fits on the bottom of a Manfrotto 322 RC joystick grip to adapt it to fit my tripod head. Fits perfectly The only thing about the entire transaction is the waste of packing material. It was packed in a 8x12x4 box with packing material ... for crying out loud it could have been put in a small padded envelope. After all it wasn't any bigger than a peanut.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Insurance Accessory I purchased a rather inexpensive tripod (backordered) that included the head. Not being sure that it came with the necessary adapter to connect to an inexpensive video camera, I ordered this reducer bushing. For the price, I didn't want to find out that I could not make the connection without it. (Kind of like finding out that the batteries are not included.) No report on if I really needed it or not as the tripod has not yet shipped. Maybe I can update this post later....

Rated 5 out of 5 by from What do you expect? What you expect this doodad to do is screw into a 3/8 threaded hole in a tripod head, or ballhead in my case, so that you can attach the head to a tripod, or monopod in my case, that has a 1/4 male thread. Not all tripods and monopods have the ability to replace the head. I needed a better ballhead for my recently purchased monopod and the 'better' ballheads usually take a 3/8 mount. It handles that job just fine. What you also need is to be able to remove it easily if you need to use the head on a tripod/monopod with a 3/8 thread later. Sometimes the adapter is in there for good because it's in a hole and you can't get hold of it. Yay, It's also simple to remove. It will stay in the female socket and has a slot you can use a screwdriver or coin (a quarter works best) to remove it. If it stays on the male thread you just use a pair of pliers to gently grab it and twist.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Works and is one of the least expensive ones I use this product to connect my shotgun microphone mount to a cold shoe mount. For some reason the microphone mount hole is 3/8. I have to decrease it to 1/4 in order to use it with cold shoe mounts, most of which are 1/4 male. I don't understand why so many mic mounts are 3/8. Anyway, this product does the job, and I like it because it is one of the cheapest of the choices.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from BE CAREFUL WHEN YOU BUY THIS Needless to say, this is a well constructed reducer bushing. I was buying it for my leica tripod head+legs, however it doesn't work well. The thread is fine but head of the reducer bushing is so thick that it sticks out and separates the head and legs. I have to buy a Manfrotto Mounting Adapter instead and dump this thing as it'll cost more if I return it.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from These work, but are not always ideal. These reducers do the job they are supposed to do, but are not always ideal because they add one more way that your tripod-camera connection can loosen up. I am not sure there is a better alternative in some cases, but a tripod head with a 3/8 screw connection might be more secure than using this adapter in some cases, depending on the specific camera.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Well made, good value and indispensable If you have gear that needs one of these then I strongly recommend just buying several of these little 3/8-16 to 1/4-20 Reducer Bushing at a time. Otherwise they become, Jesus bushings. You lose one of them when you really truly need it and all you can do is stamp your feet while screaming Jesus!!
