Now with 720p HD Video recording, the camera boasts broadcast quality motion picture capture at a smooth 30 frames per second.

A newly developed 12.1 megapixel sensor with DIGIC 4 image processing yields brilliant photographs with amazing color accuracy, incredible detail, and superb sharpness - even in large scale prints. Advanced Noise Reduction technology, innovative Face Detection, and Smart Auto further expand the possibilities of your photography. The Canon PowerShot SX20 IS is ready to help you capture your creative vision!

High Resolution Imaging
By combining a new 12.1 megapixel CCD sensor and Canon's advanced DIGIC 4 Image Processor, the PowerShot SX20 IS offers amazing image quality with dramatic low light sensitivity. Impressive ISO 3200 capability reduces blur and subject movement for crisp photos with spectacular sharpness and clarity.
20x Optical Zoom Lens
Built to the highest standards, Canon optics bring rich color and uncompromising quality to every subject. The 20x optical zoom range (28-560mm 35mm film equivalent) of the SX20 IS takes you where the action is. From landscapes to telephoto sports and nature shooting, you'll never have to compromise on your vision.
HD Video Recording
Record family events or unlock your inner filmmaker with smooth 30 frames per second HD video. The SX20 IS captures broadcast quality 1280 x 720 video with life-like stereo sound. The camera even provides use of the optical zoom while recording. Easily share your memories on a big screen HDTV by connecting the camera with an optional HDMI cable.
2.5" Vari-Angle LCD
Easy to view at any angle, the razor-sharp 2.5" LCD of the SX20 IS makes composition a snap. The screen offers 270 degree tilt and 180 degree flip for easy shooting at any angle. Framing and reviewing your photos is a pleasure, even under the brightest sunlight.
Smart Auto Technology
Concentrate on your subjects and let the camera handle the technical details with Canon's Smart Auto Technology. The SX20 IS analyzes your situation and shooting conditions with 22 scene settings. Whether you're photographing flowers, a sporting event, or a night out with friends, the camera maximizes image quality while minimizing effort.
Optical Image Stabilization
Canon's optical image stabilizer counteracts camera shake caused by unwanted movement. Vibration sensors detect the angle and speed of hand movement and send this information to the processor, allowing the camera to compensate. This adds stability to hand-held, telephoto and moving shots and enables shooting at shutter speeds of up to three stops without the use of a tripod.
AA-size Battery Convenience
This AA battery powered camera enables you to easily power up. Since AA-size batteries can be purchased at virtually any store, simply get replacements wherever you go - no special power adapters or chargers are needed.

    Canon 3633B030AA reviews

PowerShot SX20 IS Digital Camera is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 227.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I didn't realize it had so many special I decided to purchase the SX20 IS instead of a digital SLR and am very pleased with that decision. In the past I have owned Canon 35mm SLR's and they were excellent, but now I just want excellent photos and will not be quite as creative. I have only had the camera for two weeks, but that was during the Christmas holidays and I have many wonderful photos. The instruction manual that comes in the box is very helpful but also very brief. You can go to the Canon website and download the complete manual which describes many special features and how to make the most of your photo opportunities. The 20X zoom took very crisp photos. I love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Very Impressed I've been in photography for over 50 years and owned dozens of cameras. This is my seventh digital camera and 3rd canon. This is a nice advance over my SX10 and is a sweet camera to use. So far, my 2nd week with it, it beats all of the others hands down. I sold me Fuji S100FS to buy this one. The Fuji was very large and heavy and had a terrible video mode, I don't why they even bothered. You sure won't need to carry a video camera in addition to this one as it's really great. The pictures so far have been outstanding, you just have to learn how to use it properly. The camera is very high quality build and great looking very nice finish. I could go on and on about this camera, you can't go wrong here.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from This is a sweet Camera I bought this to avoid carrying my Nikon D90 and all it's lenses around. Sometimes you want to take pictures but not be the elephant in the room. I bought my wife a Canon several years ago and was always impressed with the quality for the money. Anyway I love this little camera and it's put the joy back into taking pictures on trips and family functions. Oh, I'll still use my Digi SLR but only when I need that type of quality and features. I used Steves Digicams site for his review in picking this model. Most important to me were size and optical zoom. Oh, I bought from B&H online for their pricing ....

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Pics! I mostly use this camera for family snapshots and vacation pics but I'm also taking a photo class and learning how to use more of the manual settings. Having all the controls at my fingertips makes it easy to change settings.I love the zoom for taking wildlife photos -- they turn out great. I was afraid it would seem too big because it is a lot bigger than my last camera, but that's not been a problem. I have had problems with the lens cap -- getting it to stay on the camera and not losing it when I take it off. i wish it had something to fasten it to the camera. Also I wish that the camera came with an instruction booklet -- it's a pain having to look up information on my computer.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great camera for non professionals This item is great when you're going on a trip somewhere, like a mountain or any other wilderness where you need to document precious moments quickly and you are limited to a power supply source. AA batteries can be replaced very easily. The weakness that I found in this camera is that you can not attach more than two filters at the time. When you shoot landscape normally they should be three; a UV as adapter, polarizer and some gradient. when I placed all these three filters at the edges of the picture the third one become visible, so to hide it you will have to give some zoom.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super Macro to Super Tele.. focus on a grain of salt or pull in that seagull sitting a quarter of a mile away; pic quality is amazing; colors are vivid; battery lasts for ever; very compact and easy to carry around; numerous easy to access scene selections with preprogrammed settings that allow you to focus on composition rather than fiddling with the settings; inexpensive AA batteries found anywhere provide power; one of the very best band for the buck cameras from a leader in digital camera; AND built in Image Stabilization...........WOW!!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best combination of features yet! I have used the Powershot A640, SX10IS and this one and Canon keeps adding features and keeping prices competitive. The most mentioned con for this camera, shutter lag, can be reduced by turning off the picture review feature and using the viewfinder instead of the LCD. The less the camera is doing, the faster it will respond. An SLR with these specs would require at least 3 different lenses with image stabilization costing well over $1200.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Shame on you, Canon This is my fourth Canon - I WAS a big fan and thought I was upgrading with the SX10. Camera was great - for 13 months. Stopped working in the middle of an event - no reason, wasn't dropped, nothing. Just got my estimate from Canon - $160 (I am 2 months past my warranty). My last Canon - I had a problem with battery life 2 years into the camera - Canon fixed it gratis. This camera has been treated carefully at all times - I consider it a function of the camera quality that it needs repair and am particularly disappointed that Canon thinks it is ok to charge someone so much for repairs that are not at all related to customer use.
