Canon 3985B004AA reviews

PowerShot SD980 IS Digital Camera (Gold) is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 59.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from SD980 IS first thoughts This is used as a family snapshot camera. I bought it to replace a 1 year old SD880 IS that was damaged and couldn't be repaired. My first impressions are that I don't like the ergonomics of this camera as well as the 880. If you have large hands, find something else for a camera. It's a bear to turn on and off and the other control functions are tricky too unless you have fingernails and are fairly dexterous. The touch screen controls are a little iffy too. My wife can make it work most of the time but I struggle. It seems to be a great quality camera, but not handy for everyone.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I love this camera I just jump from Kodak to Canon, I will recognize Kodak has the easy menu design, so probably that is why I found the menu a little confusing, specially when you try to dig around specific features, as pluses I will list the following: Excellent battery life Opportunity to play with manual settings Nice touch screen features Things that I do not like: Menu could be easy, specially to get color accent effects Continue shooting mode it is not easy to understand I think price is little high this camera should cost around 280-300 bucks. For sure,I will recommend this camera!!! Arath Palomera

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome I got this for my daughter for Christmas. She has had two other cameras in the past. I wanted one that was of good quality and would last. We have purchased Canon products in the past and have been very happy. Now we will buy no other brand. We love the touch screen. Very easy to navigate the different screens. We are photochallenged. You can touch the menu screen and camera will take a picture based on the screen setting you input. No more guessing what the icons mean. I want one for myself!! I can't wait to take beach and fireworks pictures. The size of the camera is also a good fit.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I made the right choice! I was a bit skeptical about purchasing this camera because I didn't want to end up wasting money on something I wasn't satisfied with, then having to return it again. I immediately fell in love with this camera when I tested out it's macro quality, you could literally put the camera less than 2 inches away from something and snap a clear bright picture, I was totally amazed! The picture quality was what I was looking for, the LCD screen is very bright and it's touch screen. You could buy a $150 Canon camera but you do get what you pay for, it will definitely not be as good as this one. I actually think the price for this camera is pretty cheap for such a great camera like this. Definitely recommend.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Pretty nice camera for a point-and-shoot Bought this camera for my wife to be able to take pics and also shoot video. She found it very easy to use. Nice wide lens for group shots, and the video looks pretty good at 1280x720. I'm a pro videographer/photographer myself, and yet this little baby holds up pretty well. Haven't tried editing any of the footage yet so I'm not sure what the ingest/editing headaches might be as of yet. Only gripe so far is that it's not fantastic in low light (although it's good), and as a result it sometimes takes a long time to actually snap the photo. Overall, happy with the purchase.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Clear Pictures Right out of the Box I reviewed the instructions for about an hour. After the battery was charged I installed the battery and memory card. Another 15 minutes applying the settings and I was ready to take pictures. The very first pictures I took were clear using the auto settings. The camera will be used in a test labratory to take pictures to include in test reports. Many of the photos will be close up shots to highlight surface details of test samples and docoment test results. I haven't tried all the modes yet but it already appears to be a great advance over the 5-year old Nikon it replaced.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very versatile product I use this product for outdoor architectural detail as well as for interior color capturing. I love/hate the touch screen aspect to the camera as it is easy to switch from portrait to landscape shots in a flash, but it requires that you actually read the manual to get a good understanding of what features you are playing with. Whenever you touch the screen various images offer different features and if you are not paying attention you may activate something you did not intend to.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very nice but not amazing. I bought the SD980 as a compliment to my 40D for those times when a full size camera just isn't practical. I like the touch screen feature but find that I tend to use the conventional controls just as much. The delete photo touch screen feature is the one exception. I find the touch screen, delete photo method much easier, although it doesn't always work the first time. I find that when I use this method it doesn't always recognize that I dragged down and then to the left to delete a picture. It just scrolls to the next picture as if I had just pulled my finger to the left only. I still can't get the camera to scroll through the pictures buy just tilting the camera. These features are nice but hardly necessary. The camera takes very sharp pictures in daylight, however it struggles a bit in darker settings. As long as you don't expect details as sharp as a DSLR camera you will be happy. I used to own the SD750 and this camera takes much better pictures.
