The RE320 Variable-D Dynamic Vocal and Instrument Microphone from Electro-Voice features a neodymium element, sensitivity, and frequency response well suited to handle the gamut of recording applications.

Electro-Voice's Variable-D tonal response aides in combating the proximity effect as well as create an even tonal response at 180° of the capsule making it suitable for capturing a wide variety of vocal and instrument sources. Its neodymium capsule handles high SPL levels making it great at capturing transient signals from amplifier cabinets, percussion instruments, horns, loud vocals, and more.

In addition, the microphone features a kick drum curve switch, which automatically adjusts for the frequency response of kick drums. The RE320 ships with a hard case.

Note:
This microphone is part of the B&H Virtual Mic Locker, an online tool to help our valued customers determine the sonic differences between popular microphones for podcasting and voice over work. Each microphone was recorded using a Grace Design M103 preamp into a Presonus Quantum 2626 interface.
Two-Position Frequency Response Contour Switch
  • Selecting the left-hand switch position engages a curve specifically designed for use on kick drums. With dips and peaks exactly where kick drums need a little EQ attention, the result is an incredibly tight "insta-kick" sound requiring little if any additional EQ when the microphone is properly positioned at the drum.
  • Selecting the right-hand switch position engages a flatter, more linear curve designed to be ideal for other instruments (such as guitar amps, bass amps, low toms, percussion, brass and wind instruments etc.) as well as voice (music and speech) in many applications. The response is smooth, natural, and articulate with a minimum of discolored off-axis bleed from surrounding sound sources.
Humbucking Coil Technology
  • Utilizing the same humbucking coil technology found in the RE20 and RE27N/D to arrest electro-magnetic field interference introduced from sources close to the microphone, the RE320 produces an ultraquiet signal path free from the hum and buzz found in other dynamic microphones.
Variable-D
  • Electro-Voice’s exclusive solution to the tonal changes associated with the proximity effect found in other directional microphones. Providing balanced and uniform frequency response up to 180° off-axis, the result is always stable and linear tonal performance even when the sound source is moving around the mic.

Using this mic with my amateur radio station and micing up instruments and vocals. Does it all well. I’ve found it more versatile than my old RE20. YMMV. Thanks B&H for top service.

In the few weeks that I have this microphone. Amazing sound cleaning and clear. I use this with Focus right interface and add the Art preamp tube. That I bought from B&H. With this combination is has given me powerful recordings >< >

Classic EV sound at a good price

Classic EV sound with a crisp high end suitable for pop vocals, but a good all around mic. I've been using this mic on vocalists during jam sessions and for live mixes this mic really cuts through the mix with ease. Even without a killer pre-amp, the sound this mic picks up is incredible.
