    Bower 35mm f/1.4 reviews

    35mm f/1.4 Lens for Sony A-Mount is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Outstanding optical qualities This lens, and any variation of the Samyang 35mm is one of the best bangs for the buck you will find. I use this on my Sony a850, and it is sharp across the entire full frame, and I think it might be outresolving my 24MP sensor. At wide open, it is already sharp, and once you stop down to f/2 and smaller apertures, it's sharp across the frame, with great contrast and colors. The colors are almost too saturated, and the background is silky smooth. The lens is very versatile. It can focus close, it's very bright, nice wide angle on FF, beautiful bokeh, great indoors, better outdoors.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best Lens Investment This lens if kept nice will never be obsolete. Its full manual focus and aperture and Full-Frame size means if you ever upgrade an adaptor will be cheap and it will always work. As for image quality this is the sharpest lens i have ever seen, stopped down to f/2.0 the lens is insanely sharp, and the colours are fantastic, with extend bokeh. The manual focus ring will have you craving to use this lens just to spin it and focus the lens, and it's extremely satisfying when you get the right focus and take the picture.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Lense Very solid lense. I use it with my Sony A58 and it shoots great pictures amd great video. The low aperture settings lets it shoot in low light without losing picture quality. The lense is made with good materials and just feels like a quality lense. Would reccomend.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from It's better than expected I shoot with it everyday now with my A65. The focus ring is very accurate and easy to use. Images are sharp from f2.0, bokeh is great too.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Bower lens for Sony a-mount Purchased this lens for nighttime photography, namely the Milky Way. With the f1.4, I was able to leave the shutter open for a short time and still get plenty of light from the stars for a good photograph. Lens worked well.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Sad I have tried this with an a100, a350 and a a65. I was certain to put the camera in manual and set the picture selector to M. Neither of the cameras will recognize that I have a lens installed. I have other manual lenses and they all work. The lens mounts like any other Sony/Minolta, but the cameras do not recognize that I have a lens mounted.??/? I am still hoping I can find out what is not making contact? It looks and feels like a good lens.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pleasantly surprised I had bought this lens out of curiosity. A 35mm Sony prime lens would cost me significantly more than this lens did and considering how often I plan on using it (occasionally) , I wanted to find out how it performs. This lens is strictly manual. I was originally thinking this might be an issue but I sort of like it. I tend to like taking my time when shooting. So experimenting with the different settings through the lens itself aids in the creative process. I shoot everything but landscapes are my main focus. The first few images I had taken were disappointing, close up shots were good but distances were underwhelming. However, I wasn't using a tripod. As a landscape photographer, you would think I would know better...LOL. Once I did switch to a tripod, the lens came to life. In the short time I have been playing with different shots, I have found the lens to be sharp throughout the image. Color is true in natural light and, so far, I haven't found any major issues with the chromatic range. Just fyi, I have used this lens on both an A900 and a7R. For the money, I don't think you will be disappointed, especially if you are a tripod shooter.
