Logitech Z906 reviews

Z906 Surround Sound THX-Certified 5.1 Speaker System is rated 4.0 out of 5 by 36.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent System Received system from B&H within several days of ordering and well ahead of promised time for delivery. The Z906 completely meets my needs and expectations. I have my computer, a 42 inch television and a DVD hooked up to the system. I accidentally ruined one of my speakers (don't ask) and Logitech replaced it free of charge. My cable TV remotes didn't control the consul so even though a remote is provided (I use that one when at the computer) I had to buy two Logitech remotes so my wife and I wouldn't have to get up from our chairs to control the sound system while watching TV.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Amazing Surround Sound System! I have this system hooked up through the optical cable to my Mac Pro and it sounds great! The only reason that I can't give this 5 stars is that it doesn't come with any way to mount the satellite speakers to a wall (and nothing in any of the specs or reviews that I read prior to purchasing it indicated this). I had to go back out to buy third-party speaker mounts, which are rather costly and limiting in how you can mount the speakers. Other than that, it's a great system and one of the few decent 5.1 systems that is under $ and still has an optical input.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Received Replacement Z906 This Week That the warranty process is meaningful is important, therefore the more favorable rating than I gave when the original Z906 purchased failed at about one year old. I would not recommend this product but at least they sent me a replacement and paid for shipping both ways. If you require warranty help be prepared to wait about 6 business days for a reply to any communication. Just when you think they are never will then they will send the email reply. So it took about two months to get a replacement. Too bad this system did not stand the test of time for me. I found another Z5500 on ebay instead of expecting I will ever get enduring satisfaction from this item. Hope my experience is not normative for new logitech sound systems but evidence in my case to the contrary makes pessimism more reasonable.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from My Case with Logitech Over Failure of Control Console Subject: Speaker System Z906 - Troubleshooting Description: Control console failure. 1.) Becomes unresponsive within minutes of being powered up, producing no sound; 2.) exhibits repeating electronic snap or pop noises through the speakers at the time it fails, sometimes ahead of time as an impending warning or at the moment it fails; 3.) it is non-responsive to both manual and remote control--power, mute, level, effect, volume increase or decrease: 4.) lights on control console will sometimes flash in random manner when it is unresponsive or will light up and stay lit for as long as a few more minutes until it recovers; 5.) this problem occurs whenever the Console is powered on, the computer is idling, and their is no sound source from the pc, no music, game, etc; 6.) this behavior occurs when I play sounds through my Sennheiser headphones plugged into Control Console just as it does when the headphones are plugged out. Batteries in remote are new. This z906 system is plugged into an APC NS1080 universal power supply, which also serves my pc power supply and monitor. The same failure of the console occurs also with the power cord plugged into a separate wall socket. My pc is the same pc used since this z906 was purchased, in the same room and in the same configuration. It has not been moved or dropped or otherwise subjected to trauma. I have reseated my soundblaster recon3d soundcard, verified integrity of all connections without improvement. I have used generic as well as the most up-to-date soundcard drivers. I have turned off all features such as microphone without improvement. It is a fine system when working, but over the past week this failure has become undeniable. Furthermore, if my Sennheiser headphones are plugged directly into the jack on the soundblaster soundcard or into the headphones jack on front of the computer there is NO sound problems, no snapping and popping noises and no interruption of sound production to the headphones like there is when the headphones are plugged into the Console. In other words I can listen or play as before without this problem as long as I do not use the control console and z906 speakers, which is why I need to invoke the warranty for what it may be worth. As my invoice shows this item is owned less than one year. Thank you in anticipation of your help. Logitech replied the day I sent my complaint, stating:You can expect a response to your case within two business days. I am writing this review on the 5th business day of this week and have received no further reply from Logitech. This same content is being sent today to Logitech support via the email they gave me for communicating with them. You can decide for yourselves if this is significant or not. I am communicating within channels, receipt in hand, useless product in front of me. In effect this is now a review of sorts of the Logitech product line warranty process, and its meaningfulness or lack thereof. We hope it is meaningful.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from MyLastReview_revised Sigh. I do this reluctantly because I am flat disappointed. The new control console sent by Logitech failed in less than 36 hours. Trying to get L. to respond to my request for further assistance. Will update when I can. Hope the chronicle of my ownership of the Z906, with its appealing specs but short-lived operation and tedious warranty process is not itself too tedious for anyone reading these reviews. I do it because I wish someone else had taken the time to give some useful details about this product before I (hopefully not in the long run) wasted this much money on it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Z906 good if you hang them These are great sounding surround speakers but plan on hanging them up in the front an back walls in the room you are installing them in. If you set them near the computer,in front of you, like conventional computer speakers they'll sound distorted. The woofer can be on the floor as well as the middle speaker but I would go with the room corners for the main 4 speakers. If you need a standard computer system the Logitech Z623 980-000402 Speaker System is the best bang for the buck.
