Gefen GTV-DVIDL-2-MDP overview

  • 1Description

The Dual Link DVI-to-Mini-DisplayPort Converter from Gefen works with all Mac and PC computers with a mini-DisplayPort. Using dual link DVI graphics, the Dual Link DVI-to-Mini-DisplayPort Converter supports resolutions up to 2560x1600.

It's designed as a Plug-n-Play solution for viewing DVI video using the Mini DisplayPort interface with audio support. The Dual Link DVI-to-Mini-DisplayPort Converter can also be used with displays using standard DisplayPort connections with a passive Mini-DisplayPort-to-DisplayPort cable.

Audio support is provided through the built-in 3.5mm audio jack. The audio output is fed through the Mini-DisplayPort connector on the unit. An EDID switch button is provided for manually selecting the three EDID modes: 2560x1600, 2560x1440, or pass-through. The unit is powered using the included USB cable.

Advanced Extended Display Identification Data (EDID)
The Dual Link DVI-to-Mini-DisplayPort Converter comes equipped with advanced EDID management features, such as the EDID switch located on the front panel. It can be used to switch seamlessly between three different modes: 2560x1600, 2560x1440, or pass-through
Audio Conversion
Audio input is handled by a 3.5mm (1/8") audio jack. Both the DVI video signal and the audio signal are converted by the Dual Link DVI-to-Mini-DisplayPort Converter and relayed through the mini-DisplayPort. Since the mini-DisplayPort handles both video and audio signals (just like its HDMI counterpart), there's no need for a separate audio connector from the converter to the display receiving the signal
Supported Resolutions
The Dual Link DVI-to-Mini-DisplayPort Converter supports resolutions up to 2560x1600. Also, the included EDID button can switch to 2560x1440, which is the native resolution of Apple 27" iMacs and Apple 27" LED Cinema Displays
The Dual Link DVI-to-Mini-DisplayPort Converter is powered through a USB cable so it doesn't take up extra space on the electrical outlet

Dual Link DVI-to-Mini-DisplayPort Converter is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Solution for Apple Monitor Use wit I use both Apple & PC computers, I have a 24 Apple monitor that I used for business presentations on occasion. With all the Pico / Portable projectors available I was able to lighten my travel load, but what do I do with my Apple monitor? This Link DVI allowed me to connect my 24 Apple monitor to my Windows PC and it works great. Gave away my old 24 Gateway monitor. I'm very happy with the purchase. B&H was great in helping me find the right solution. Thanks guys! PS - I'm a CFP and not in sales for B&H or or this company. I write this only because I never write review and discount most of them.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from DVI output to 2560x1440 Monitor - only product that works Would have given it 5 stars but it's pretty expensive for what it does. I had an expensive hi res 27 U2713 Dell monitor that was connected to the DVI port on my old Power Mac Pro. I needed to mirror that display with another one (P2416D) that would be mounted about 8 feet away. Any mirrored monitor has to run at the same resolution as the main one (2560 x 1440 in this case). I thought a DVI to HDMI cable would work, but nothing I tried would go beyond 1920x1200, which forced me to run the main monitor at a lower resolution as well. This product allowed me to use the DP port on the second Dell monitor and now both displays run fine at 2560x1440. No picture degradation at all. Once you hook it up you can forget about it.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works flawlessly with Apple 27 Display Purpose: connect the 27 Apple LED Cinema Display to my PC Pros: easy to use, connects to my PC for power, small form factor that hides itself well Cons: does not come with all the cables necessary, the blue LEDs can be annoying if you have to stare at them incessantly.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Apple Cinema Display LED with Thinkpad I got this to allow me to connect my 27 Mini Display port Cinema display to a Lenovo T410. It works great. I share this between my Macbook Air and the Lenovo.
