    Porta Brace AR-ZH4 reviews

AR-ZH4 Case for Zoom H4/H4n Digital Recorder is rated 2.9 out of 5 by 16.
Rated 1 out of 5 by from Porta Brace really blew it! H4n recorder purchased to augment video recording. Porta Brace Case was purchased to protect the recorder but it is worthless--at any price. Velcro panels on either side open to expose the connectors - if both sides are open simultaneously, the case is no longer snugly fit to the recorder. If using the AC adapter, the Porta Brace case covers the plug on the recorder. The clear vinyl 'window' is stiff and wavy making it difficult to see the LED display on the recorder.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Awesome case if you like velcro Great case, as it gives me a way to hang it from a tripod, stand, a belt, or anywhere outside of my audio bag that I sometimes need to put my zoom. As the zoom has openings to access switches, batteries, SD cards, the mic, inputs, and the front interface are on all sides, the case is pretty much a labyrinth of velcro flaps and strips that allow you to get to everything. A bit kludgy but very functional for what it gives you. Plus all that velcro creates a bit of thickness which is great for drop protection (unscientifically tested several times ;-)

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Well built, with minor problems Porta Brace cases have a reputation for durability and all-around functionality and this case is no exception. It feels solid and has some great extra features (Cover extension for XLR ports and Internal Mics) The only thing that detracts from this case is the fact a few essential ports are rendered inoperable. Access to the headphone port is cutoff by the side flap and the ext. mic port on the back of the H4n is impossible to reach while in the case. I'm considering punching a hole in mine for the headphone port but it seems like an obvious problem that Porta Brace overlooked.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Porta-Brace fits H4N The Porta-Brace AR-ZH4 case is made specifically to protect the ZOOM H4N. It does what it is designed for pretty well. The H4N fits snugingly in the bag, but you still have access to all its buttons and the LCD display. Also protects the built-in mic from the elements if you are not using it. I guess as with other Porta-Brace bags, this is water (rain) resistant, but haven't tried using it in a rainy environment yet . Bottom line - am happy with this purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from This thing is dumb. I can't figure out exactly how the Zoom is supposed to go in there, and furthermore it would be inconvenient to have it in there anyway, because the walls of the bag block (mostly) your access to the controls. That's why I think it's dumb. It also lacks a strap to hang it from your shoulder or from a stand. But if you're just going to turn it on and stick it on your belt (?) and not adjust levels, then sure I guess it's fine for that.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from To cumbersome Nice case, covers up recorder, but it makes the recorder harder to use.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from No. Bought a full sound rig last week. Picked up the H4n because lots of friends were using it for film. I wanted a case so I could have one sound guy on the production. To many things to hold. Got this case. Its just junk. Barely fits. Can't see the screen that well. For the money you will be disappointed.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from AR-ZH4 Case for Zoom H4n Bulky heavy-duty looking case is just bulky useless something that I could not figure out how to wrap it around H4n. Even the best I could do with it will not allow me easy access the buttons. It will not prevent rain to get into the device, neither will it protect the device from accidental drop on to a hard surfaces. Simply it is a very expensive something I do not know what to do with. I trashed it.
