The DKS-20 medium black Photo/SLR/Laptop Sling Backpack from Vivitar is a triple threat when it comes to buying this type of pack. It can be worn in three different ways and therefore serves as a durable pack for both transport and shooting. It's made from tough Oxford Fabric 600D.

When worn as a traditional backpack, it carries more than its weight in equipment including a 15.4" (39.1cm) laptop. When worn as a shoulder bag, you have rapid access to your gear through the zippered lower half of the bag. When used as either a left or right sided sling-style bag, the quick access zippered side pockets (on either side) give you even faster access to your equipment. An additional mesh storage pocket is supplied for small accessories.

The bag is essentially divided in half with the top being used for personals and smaller items in their own foam-padded compartment. The lower half is the main compartment where your gear is safely stored within additional foam-padded, adjustable dividers. There's an additional zippered mesh accessory compartment for batteries, media cards, cleaning cloths, pens or even business cards.

Carrying a tripod is no problem since the bag comes with connecting straps on the back that will hold your pod securely. This is a relatively lightweight pack that is functional, durable and flexible for the shooter who likes to be outside and constantly on the move. It's carried by two wide, padded and adjustable shoulder straps that are supported by an adjustable chest strap that helps keep the pack steady and centered on your back. The waist belt is also adjustable and helps prevent the pack from swaying while hiking or climbing. There's a comfortable back pad and easily removable and deployable rain cover for when the weather turns sour. Finally, if you're just trying to get the pack out of your car trunk, Vivitar has added a strong top carry handle.

Can be worn as a sling-style bag on either left or right side - accessory pockets on each side provide rapid access to equipment
Multiple versatile storage compartments - top and bottom halves separate personals and photo gear
Internal, adjustable foam-padded dividers
Accessory mesh side pockets for small items like batteries
Padded shoulder straps, chest strap and waist belt add stability
Rain cover provides additional protection from the elements

    DKS-20 Photo/SLR/Laptop Sling Backpack, Medium (19 x 11.5 x 8", Black) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 79.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far, so good This bag has more features that fit what I wanted than some of the $ + ones that I saw. I am sure that it is not as durable material, but it feels sturdy and durable. My 15 macbook pro fits nicely in the laptop sleeve and my 5dmark iii fits snug with a 70-200 f2.8 attached, with room for more lenses. Comes with rain shield which is a plus. It seems like it will be perfect for my photography trip to the UK, lets hope that is true. The only downfall that I can see is that it does not have a water bottle holder. It just makes me nervous to put a drink inside the bag that is holding ALL of my equipment. Other than that it seems like a great bag so far. And you can't beet that price!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great DSLR Bag I have a Nikon D40 with three lenses, and many other accessories (extra battery, charger, a lot of memory cards, cleaning stuff for my lenses, etc.), and all this gear did not fit into my old bag. I decided to buy a new one, and I chose this. It is perfect for me. It has a lot of room, I could put everything into it, and still have enough room to put another lens and a flash into the bag. There is enough space for a laptop (up to 15 inch), and for smaller electronic devices (IPOD, PSP, PS Vita, etc). I am very satisfied, and I hope, it will serve me for a long time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Camera bag! I used to have a backpack for my camera gear that was a sling bag and it always made my shoulder hurt after I had been carrying it around for a while so I decided I needed to get a new one. This was a perfect choice for me. It's pads are comfortable I can get to my equipment without having to ask people to hold things that are in the way and it also has just the right amount of room. And if I decide I want it to be a sling bag instead, the straps are movable and let me do that. It also comes with a rain cover, which while the contsruction of the bag is pretty sturdy makes me feel better if I'm out in the rain or bad weather. I'm very happy with this.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Not really happy OK, I have not used it in the field yet. But I am a little disappointed already. The internal dividers are kind of floppy and the Velcro fixation is slack. And I still have not figured out how to arrange everything, so it fits properly my gear (3 lenses and DSLR body). Maybe the fact that as a backpack it holds the camera in a horizontal position, like you see on the illustration, is not a good thing. In real life, the dividers are not able to hold the weight of the body with a lens attached (e.g. 70-300). Well, they hold it, but the stuff sags totally, once you carry the backpack upright, which is what you do with a backpack...And the tripod holder is a joke. It does not cope with my Manfrotto 294 series. But it holds my monopod well...(though, not more). Other than that, it's a nice product. So, I am pondering to get a classic bag instead...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I'd recommend this Bag As a skater and film enthusiast, I needed a bag that would hold all my gear. This bag can do just about that. I do wish there was more space in the top compartment so that my helmet would fit in the bag, but I can deal with it hanging on the outside. Overall all I carry multiple lenses and my nikon camera as well as cables and extra accessories, then there is my longboard gear which consist of kneepads, elbow pads, and gloves. It can even carry a tripod nicely, as well as my macbook pro and has a rain cover. This book bag comes at a great price the straps are a little long but that can be taken care of. I would definitely recommend this bag to beginners, travelers, or hikers!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Functional & priced right I have done the research on all the B & H carries for DSLR backpacks for my needs & wants. I picked Vivitar DKS-20 & glad I made the right choice. You can't beat the price for getting all the features that many more expensive brand of backpacks don't have. The design is simple & elegant. The materials & construction is as good as it can be for the money. The only thing I wish Vivitar did not use thin vinyl at the bottom where the tripod foot pocket label is as I believe quite vulnerable to be torn easily during transit. Overall it is comfortable & secure to wear. Plenty of space for Nikon D600, 2 kit zoom lenses 24MM up to 300MM & room for another lens, flash unit, stereo mike, filters & many more small items for the camera.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Bulky but spacious I would give this product 5 stars for build quality and room for equipment and 3 stars for design. Functionally this backpack is well thought out but the design is nothing to write home about. Bought this to carry my 15 inch retina Mac Book pro together with my Olympus E-510. My DSL is kind of small for this backpack but sadly I couldn't find a smaller one that fitted 15 inch laptops. However it seems there is plenty of space for that laptop in there which leaves me to wonder if I could have fitted it in the smaller version of this backpack.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from POOR SUPPORT Yes this item held it's share. On the downside it only lasted two days. I ordered this for a big trip. Given it was around $$us. The right strap ripped within the first two days of my trip. I had to triple stitch it back together to manage the rest. I'm not sure about you but I do not have the time to sew when i'm on the road. The fact I am still afraid my own stitches will tear should give you a good idea of the quality with this bag. Africa is not the place you want to have faulty equipment. Next time I will pay the extra $100 for the quality required to travel the world. Thank you for your time.
