Nikon 26166B overview

  • 1Description

The Nikon Coolpix L19 Digital Camera provides simple operation with a compact and stylish camera body. The 8.0 Megapixel resolution combined with the high quality 3.6x Nikkor-Zoom lens produces beautiful photographs while its intuitive operation ensures error-free command over the camera's features & functions. The large 2.7-inch LCD display offers a bright image that is a pleasure to view, even outdoors. Furthermore, extended light sensitivity as high as ISO 1600 prevents blurred shots in lower light, or when capturing fast-moving subjects. There is even an Easy Auto mode where users can turn on the camera and shoot without worrying about any settings - or users can access 14 different scene modes and three movie modes to get the best results to match the moment.

Powered by Nikon's exclusive EXPEED image processing engine, the Coolpix L19 features a selection of three innovative functions that provide the ability to actually improve the quality of images within the camera. Face-priority AF automatically finds then focuses on people's faces for crisp, clear results time after time. In-Camera Red-Eye Fix automatically compensates to help eradicate traces of the annoying red-eye effect that can sometimes be encountered during flash photography. And D-Lighting can be applied to improve underexposed images or shots taken with too much backlight. D-Lighting automatically creates a copy of the image with detail added where necessary, but with well-exposed areas left completely untouched. These innovative functions are combined in the cameras Smart Portrait System, along with the smile modes and blink warning feature to assure that your portraits and group shots always look great.

8.0 Megapixel Resolution
The Coolpix L19 can produce images with 8.0 megapixel resolution to deliver pictures with true-to-life color and pleasing details. What's more, with this high resolution, images can be significantly enlarged and still look absolutely stunning
High Quality 3.6x Optical Zoom-Nikkor Lens
The Zoom Nikkor glass lens of the Coolpix L19 produces incredibly sharp, clear images, and the Macro capability of the lens lets you focus as close as 2 inches. In addition, there is a 4x digital zoom providing a combined zoom capability of over 14x
High Sensitivity (ISO 1600)
Keep shooting, even in lower light with the high ISO capability of the Coolpix L20 - the camera's sensitivity is completely automatic and has a range from ISO 64 all the way to an incredible ISO 1600
Easy Auto Mode
The Easy Auto mode makes photography even easier by having the camera take complete control of settings, so you simply turn on the camera and shoot without worrying about it
16 Scene Modes
The Nikon Coolpix L19 has sixteen scene modes to cover just about any shooting situation you may come across, and six of these modes are available for the scene auto selector which automatically selects the most appropriate scene mode for your shot. The scene modes include: Fireworks Show, Sports, Sunset, Food, Beach/Snow, Night Portrait, Museum, Dusk/Dawn, Panorama Assist, Portrait, Back Light, Landscape, Party, Close Up, Night Landscape, and Copy
Smart Portrait System
The Smart Portrait System combines the functions of several exclusive Nikon technologies including Nikon's innovative smile mode that releases the camera shutter at the moment that your subject smiles, In-Camera Red-Eye Fix which automatically detects and corrects for red eye, D-Lighting which compensates for excessive backlight or insufficient flash in images, and Enhanced Face Priority AF which automatically finds and focuses on up to 12 people's faces within one frame - all to ensure that portraits and group shots will always look their best
2.7" LCD Display
The high resolution 2.7-inch LCD makes it easy to compose shots and play them back anywhere and the high contrast display ensures that it is easily viewable - even in direct sunlight
Uses AA-size Batteries
The Coolpix L19 is powered by standard AA-size (LR6) batteries, which are widely available around the world. As a result, users can shoot as they like without having to worry about recharging or running out of power. Nikon 26166B reviews

Coolpix L19 Digital Camera (Smooth Silver) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Super bang for the buck I purchased the Nikon L19 camera for my wife, who wanted a simple, easy to use camera for snapshots of the kids. At 8.0 megapixels it's got more resolution than either of my other cameras (Minolta Maxxum 7D (6.0MP) and Minolta Dimage G500 (5.0MP)).Admittedly, price was a big factor on this purchase; my wife didn't want something too complicated or fancy, and didn't want to worry if taking it to the beach or on the boat. On the other hand, I'm an advanced amateur and wanted something that would still give me the control that I'm used to with the other cameras, and that I really hate to give up.The L19 offers enough simplicity for my wife--she can turn it on, point, and shoot. It also offers enough control (for a point and shoot) that I am happy. For example, I can force fire the flash to add fill light; I can cancel the flash to use ambient lighting only; I can add or subtract exposure compensation as needed.Nikon's Smile Mode is an interesting feature that I've not seen till now: set the camera to smile mode and point it at a face. As long as the face it looking at the camera, the L19 recognizes it then automatically takes the picture when a smile appears. It sounds gimicky, but it actually works. The L19 displays far less shutter lag than my Minolta G500. The shutter responds quicker when pressed, and I can shoot at a faster rate than I can with the G500. It will not, however, keep up with the Maxxum 7D, nor would I ever expect it too. It was fast enough for me to shoot several sequential shots of my kids riding amusement rides, though. The large screen of the L19 is a real plus, and it makes for easy viewing.I'm not a big fan of scene modes; the L19 has plenty of them, so if you want them, they're there. If you don't want them, you can ignore them. The L19 has in camera cropping: shoot a picture but only like part of it? Zoom in, and then crop, all right in the camera, using that big screen. It's a neat feature, although I will continue to use Adobe Photoshop Elements for my cropping and other editing. At its regular price the Nikon L19 is a good buy; I happened to hit a sale and got the camera for $--an excellent buy. I talked my mother-in-law into buying one, too.For a camera in the $100 range, the Nikon L19 has an excellent set of features, and performs well. It's got enough resolution for all but the larges of prints. It won't perform like a DSLR, but then again it doesn't cost $500 to $2,000 either. If you're looking for a capable camera at a good price, look no further. It's easy to use, and does everything a point and shoot ought to do. At this price level, it's a super buy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from YearBook Coolpix In more ways than one! We ordered 5 coolpix cameras through our computer lab to use with our School's Yearbook staff! The portability and user friendly cameras were exactly what we were looking for! We wanted simple point and shoot and also the ability to disengage the flash function! Our pictures have come out crisp and ready to upload to our 2010 Yearbook! The yearbook advisor also has the opportunity to make a mini movie with the coolpix camera to promote joining Yearbook and found it to be a very easy process! She wanted to borrow a movie camera and she found coolpix to be an all-in-one self server camera!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I really love this camera I am not very knowledgeable about cameras, in general, and I feared that it would take me forever to learn how to use my Nikon. I was very pleased, it was very easy to use. I use Picasa for editing and the process runs very smoothly. I just wish it had longer battery life, but rechargeable batteries seem to be the way to deal with that.
