How weather resistant is this bag?

How weather resistant is this bag?
Asked by: RustyBensh
I can’t say how waterproof these bags are, but I once carried a Domke canvas satchel full of camera gear into the rain forests of Costa Rica for days, and the only gear that got wet was the gear I took out of the bag.

question

What is the vertical height available in this bag? I can read the specs, but I can't tell which dimension - width or depth - is the vertical depth that will allow a zoom to be placed in it vertically. B&H: you should make the dimensions clearer.
Asked by: John
I use NIKON D800's DSLRs mostly and I carry my 70-200 2.8 without a problem. The bag is really big and for most daily work I still use my old F-1 bag.

question

Does this bag come packed flat to be accomodated in a suitcase?
Asked by: Bernardo
When I travel i put my gear in an airline size hard case with wheels. I pack my Domke bag in my luggage but stuff it with underwear and toiletries. No need to flatten it.

question

The olive version has different interior dimensions in the specs than the other colors - which are accurate?
Asked by: Anonymous
I have an older (25 years older) version and the interiors seem very close in size. I have not put a tape to it, but they look the same.

question

Does the top cover zipper closed or is it just a flap? I work around debris filled environments and like a zipped closure.
Asked by: Kevin
The Domke F2 bag has a zippered pouch inside the flap. The pouch is nearly the size of the entire flap. The outer canvas of the flap is lined with Cordura-like material. The canvas is relatively water proof since cotton canvas swells when wet. I have probably used up a dozen or so Domke bags over the years—they are very sturdy, but using them to carry heavy video equipment (five-pound batteries, etc.) eventually cuts through the canvas when dragging the bags in and out of trains, planes, and automobiles—ships and submarines too. If you plan to carry the bag on your shoulder all day, the F2 is the largest you should go. The F2 has an outer pocket on each end large enough to hold a Stephen King paperback novel, closed with a velcroed flap. There is an exterior pouch on the back large enough for an iPad Pro. There are two open pockets on the front that have no individual flaps, but that are secured by the top flap when it is clipped shut. Each is just a bit smaller than a typical paperback novel. Inside, a padded board is fit in, covering the bottom. A strip of velcro is sewed along the two long sides. A padded Cordura four section set of pockets, each large enough to hold a moderately sized full frame lens (eight inches by three inches) can be attached to the velcro strips sewed to the sides. There will also be space inside at one end for a DSLR or mirrorless camera with a moderately sized lens pointing up. If you have fast lenses or long zooms, two of the four padded cells may need to remain empty. I would keep chargers and extra batteries in an end pocket, filters in the side pockets; documents, flash memory toothbrush & toothpaste, and medication in the zippered pocket. Phil
