A versatile wide-angle prime for Leica M-mount rangefinder cameras, the Super-Elmar-M 21mm f/3.4 ASPH. is a unique lens characterized by its sophisticated optical design and impressively sleek form factor. Utilizing one double-sided aspherical element and four anomalous partial dispersion elements, spherical and chromatic aberrations and distortions are minimized and sharpness is maintained throughout the aperture range. The aspherical element also contributes to the compact form factor, and the manual focusing design permits working with subjects as close as 2.3' away.

Leica Super-Elmar-M 21mm f/3.4 ASPH. Reviews
Super sharp, virtually no distortion
You will not believe how distortion free this lens is (when held level) until you look through the lens with a reflex viewer or at the image on a screen. Same for edge to edge sharpness I especially like that set to F11 the wide DOF keeps so much in focus
Disappointed on the SL2s
While a great size, build quality and colors are typical Leica great, I bought this lens for the SL2s and would say that the performance takes a hit over using on an M camera (to be expected). Less sharp and distortion is relatively high in the outer zone - correction of the distortion reduces micro contrast and makes the images a little flat. Does not balance very well with the SL2s either, the camera is a little big for it. Typical of wide angle manual lenses, this one is hard to focus at wide aperture (not uncommon for manual, wide aperture, lenses).
