    Zinwell ZAT-970A reviews

ZAT-970A ATSC Digital to Analog Converter is rated 4.4 out of 5 by 49.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from I like it I wanted add on channel capabilty that the new Tivax 12 doesn't have. It works well and seems to pick up more channels (30) than the old Tivax 9 I had. Use with a new flat antenna, which also works better than rabbit ears. I don't like that only two programs appear in the guide. The Tivax allows you to view hours ahead. This one is less costly than Tivax and I am completely satisfied with it. Just hope it doesn't break as quickly as the Tivax 9 did (Two lasted only 3 years.) Remote writing is tiny. Have to wear glasses and turn on all the lights to read button functions.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Value I use the converter on a medium-sized cathode ray tube TV with a very basic antenna. The unit does exactly as expected : it detected almost all signals in my area and plays them perfectly. It doesn't get very hot and setup is very easy. It is a little disappointing that it does not include a complete EPG. Instead, it has a very basic display that tells you what is playing now and what will play next on the channel you are listening to.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent Product Excellent - Better than anything that you can buy on the local market. All products that could be found in the big box stores were lacking in the performance of one feature or another, (like picking up channels). This unit automatically scanned and picked up more channels than any other unit I tried. The video was excellent. The audio was very good. Setup was easy. Basic but solid unit that performs extremely well. No fancy bells and whistles. Just solid performance.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Glad I Chose This One Cancelled cable and use this on our large screen plasma tv. Picture looks great. Was easy to install. Like that there is a display that pops up tell you what you are watching and what is coming up next. Nice design too. Happy with this purchase.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from mixed feelings... While the Zinwell has some nice features such as the momentary banners that indicate what show is currently on and will be on next at a channel when you switch to it, there are some annoying features as well. The sound quality is poor and horribly distorts the bass. Also, it only works on channel 3; if you have a VCR or DVD player that only works on channel 4, you are hosed! But the picture quality is excellent and it is easy to program.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Who needs cable? Not me, I just gave a new life to my aging TV and the cost of the device paid by itself and more since I cut the cord on the cable TV for over $700 savings.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Does the job. This is a wonderful investment for those like myself who refuse to hand money over to a cable tv company. Now with digtal OTA signals, free tv is better than ever and in hi-def too. Functionality of the unit is good and it shows signal strength and quality on screen, which is a great plus when calibrating antenna adjustments. One thing I had difficulty with was finding a remote code so that I could control the unit with my AV receiver remote. In the end I had to settle for control of the channels and powering the unit only. This is more a limitation of my AV receiver remote though and not so much the Zinwell unit. With a fancy learning remote this may not even be an issue. With that said, once the unit is properly set up and the channels have been tuned, there's not much need for any of the other controls aside from the power and channel buttons, so I'm still happy.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great product! Great product! Physicaly is in a metal enclousure which it seems a little flimsy and weak, but I'm not going to throw it around, it will be seated in a single place. Software is very user friendly menus with plenty of information so the user can play around. Picture is great with great performance. It brings old TVs back to life the right way. Connectivity is ok. I personally wish it included an HDMI option which it could be very helpful for monitors. In my opinion for the price and the era they should have it regardless. Price for the quality of product and instructions is high, but it compensates with performance. For not having and HDMI and low end enclosure I deduct 1 star. Over all, I'm extremely happy with this product.
