Heliopan 40.5 short hood

Decently made, but not recommended for use with the TTArtisan 17mm lens as it vignettes the corners of the frame. That's a shame as this hood was recommended for that specific lens.

Used on a 40mm M-Rokkor F/2.0 Lens.

This lens hood is mounted on my 40mm f/2.0 m-Rokkor m-mount lens. This hood does not block the viewfinders in my Leica CL (film) or my Leica M4-P. It's compact, but it works as designed.

Right Tool For The Job

Exactly as advertised - sturdy hood considering what a small piece it is. Just right for this lens; a little extra protection and a subtle amount of shade.

This is a wonderful small hood to shade the lens. Beautiful craftsmanship.

surprisingly low quality for the price

Not too many options for 40.5mm thread hoods. I tried this for the Sony 16-50 E-mount lens. It's surprisingly low quality - its made of a very thin, cheap-feeling metal. It feels like it will deform very easily if you put any pressure on it. As a comparison, Nikon's metal hoods feel much more substantial. More importantly, this hood won't work on the Sony 16-50. It won't block the lens outright, but it will induce vignetting in the corners at 16mm.

works well with Sony 28-60 lens

Big enough to be useful as a lens shade on a Sony 28-60 lens, but still keeps the profile low on this compact lens. Original lens cap still fits.

Nice little lens hood but vignettes at f2.8. Otherwise it's fine.

On a full frame sensor, a 50mm with a 40.5mm front diameter would not vignette.
