Genaray MB-50DWV Overview

  • 1Description

With its monolight form factor, S-Type front accessory mount and AC or 12 VDC battery power options, the MonoBright Daylight LED 750 fixture from Genaray can be easily integrated into a wide range of projects. The MonoBright employs a HiBrite 5200K microLED PCB to output the equivalent power of a 750W tungsten fixture while consuming only 50W of current.

Its high CRI rating of >90 means that the light packs precision with power for faithful rendition of colors down to the subtlest tones. Another handy feature is the dimming range of 10-100% so you won't have to move the light once you have it perfectly positioned. And if you've mounted the MonoBright in a hard to reach place you'll appreciate the inclusion of a 2.4 GHz wireless remote control that can dim the light at distances up to 98' as well as turn it on or off. The MonoBright can run on 100-240 VAC mains voltage for worldwide use but the light also has a 4-pin XLR input for a battery cable and 12V battery (available separately). Also included are a 7", 60 degree umbrella/grid reflector, and shower cap-style diffuser.

HiBrite microLED PCB
Thanks to its HiBrite microLED PCB, the Genaray MonoBright LED 750 delivers 8,000 lux of continuous light and draws only 50W to produce the equivalent output of a 750W open-face tungsten light

Genaray MB-50DWV Reviews

MonoBright Daylight LED 750 is rated 3.7 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent product for my needs I shoot with strobes, natural light and HMI fresnel lights, and I've wanted to add some other cool running continuous light sources that I could use with common and popular modifiers for portraiture and headshots. I've explored a lot of what is out there and decided to buy one of these, test it thoroughly and use it on a few photo shoots to see how it performed in real world shooting. I'll be posting a full review to my site soon but the bottom line on this light is that it's pretty darn good in many respects. It's an inexpensive LED solution with an S-mount, very reasonably priced, decent power output and stable color temperature. There are some shortcomings and limitations that may be of some concern but the good far outweighs those limitations or design flaws. After shooting with this LED light and a variety of light modifiers and configurations I have to say that I'm thrilled with the performance. I haven't seen other lights at this price point with the same output, much less with an S-mount. In the studio where there is less wear and tear and no exposure to the elements, I think these lights could last without any problems. I don't see myself using them on location because I believe the build quality could present problems. For my money, a small kit with a few of these suckers and some softboxes, strips and octas, and I'm good to go. They're not for everyone, and if you are looking for professional build quality or a high end light, this isn't it. It is, however, a fantastic light for portraiture and still photography. There you have it. I like these lights.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from NOT Rated to 8000 Lux @ 1 Meter :( Cons: 1. At night with all the lights out in my studio at 1 meter the best Lux rating I got was around 1500 (+-) Lux :(. 2. I bought three of these lights and all three are in this range. 3. I ganged the lights together (see photo) to create a mega light which (I was really hoping) that would produce 24,000 Lux and use only 150 watts of energy (each light is rated to 50Ws). The best I was able to get out of the three light together (each one turned up to full power) was 4500 Lux. 4. I wear two hats to make a living, DP and architectural photog. My DP hat says there is no way the sound guy would let me use these lights on a film set. 5. In my opinion you must always use the diffuser (plastic shower cap that is included). Without the diffuser on, the light throws a speckled pattern of light on the wall, but with the cap on the lights is really beautiful. Pros: 1. The price point and the quality of light with the shower cap on. 2. That they only consume 50w of power. I connected them to my Marine battery with a 400 w inverter and it worked for four hours. There is no gas gauge on my battery so there is no way to see how empty the battery was. 3. love the Bowens S mount :) 4. High CRI rating I'm really on the fence about these lights. I tried to use them for an lifestyle shoot yesterday (all three ganged running off a Marine battery) and they just can't keep up with my Baja 600 w (battery operated strobes) for punch and output. I ended up using the Baja for my key and the 3-Ganged 750 LED as my fill light, but as the sun filled the sky, I stopped using it as the fill because by the time I got the light out of frame it was useless as a fill light. I thinking for a more controlled environment (studio). this would be a great solution!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great LED Light for Video I mostly am planning to use these lights for small video projects and interviews. I purchased these due to the size and how affordable they were. They are super compact and lightweight, which will be good for travel and on location uses. PROS: -The High CRI rating of >90 is decent for my applications - lightweight -10-100% Dimming capabilities - wireless remote - reflector & diffuser sock -Or I can use with an Umbrella -Digital output of dimming on back **Few things they should consider for version 2 CONS: -Umbrella knob is too long so you cant tip the light up, only down - changing the plug to be a standard plug A pretty solid light all around and I like having 2 for my shoots. I see these lights getting a ton of use and possibly adding a 3rd on to the setup I currently have. I would reco these lights to anyone

Rated 4 out of 5 by from A well made bright light I use the MonoBright light along with 2, 12 x 12 in LED lights. It is an excellent spot light to emphasize a given smaller area - using grids to determine the size.
