Sony HDRCX675/B Overview

  • 1Description

The Sony HDR-CX675 Full HD Handycam Camcorder features a wide-angle Sony G 30x optical zoom lens and Balanced Optical SteadyShot image stabilization with 5-Axis Intelligent Active mode to help you capture smooth and stable footage throughout the zoom range, even while on the move. Intuitive, grab-and-go operation is further benefited thanks to a Fast Intelligent AF system that works to help keep your subjects in sharp focus. The camcorder's Exmor R CMOS sensor and Bionz X processor combine to support 1080p video up to 60 fps and still images up to 9.2MP, with files recorded to either microSD memory cards or the internal 32GB of flash memory. Advanced features include a 5.1 channel built-in zoom microphone, interval photo capture for creating time-lapse videos, and Wi-Fi/NFC connectivity for wireless control and file sharing.

1080p Video Recording and 9.2MP Stills
The Exmor R CMOS image sensor combines with the Bionz X processor to support 1080p video up to 60 fps and 9.2MP still photos.
Sony G with 30x Optical Zoom
The HDR-CX675 comes equipped with a Sony G zoom lens that features a wide 35mm-equivalent focal length of 26.8mm (in movie mode) to fit more into your shots and a 30x optical zoom range. To get you closer to the action, the zoom range can be extended to 60x using Clear Image Zoom.
Balanced Optical SteadyShot with Intelligent Active Mode
Sony's Balanced Optical SteadyShot image stabilization suppresses camera shake to produce more stable looking footage throughout the camcorder's zoom range, even under unsteady conditions. 5-axis Intelligent Active mode compensates for vibration in five different directions, so you can shoot stable high-quality movies even while running.
Fast Intelligent AF
Fast Intelligent AF achieves quick and accurate contrast-detection autofocus by minimizing lens motion, predicting the AF range, and accelerating lens drive.
Versatile Shooting with XAVC S, AVCHD, and MP4 Codecs
The HDR-CX675 records HD movies in the XAVC S format, which uses MPEG-4 AVC/H.264 for video compression and linear PCM for audio compression, while saving files in a MP4 wrapper which allows for extensive record times and easy editing. Additionally, you can chose to record HD in AVCHD (ideal for HDTV and Blu-ray disc burning) or MP4 (ideal for sharing over the internet).
Dual Video Recording
Record two movies at the same time - one in the maximum-quality XAVC S or AVCHD format and another in MP4 format. This gives you a small file ready for instant sharing, plus a professional-grade file for further editing.
Time-Lapse Capture
Capture still images continuously over an extensive period of time at a selected constant interval from each shot to the next, edit the entire sequence of still images in post-production, and enjoy playback of that series of images as a time-lapse movie.
5.1 Channel On-Board Audio Capture
Record clear sound that accurately captures the atmosphere of the scene, and enjoy surround sound playback on your home theater system. Level meters on the LCD panel provide visual monitoring of each channel's levels.

Note: 5.1 channel audio is only available when recording in AVCHD.
Simple Connectivity to Smartphones via Wi-Fi/NFC
Built-in Wi-Fi/NFC support enables easy connectivity with smartphones for one-touch sharing and one-touch remote control. NFC (near field communication) provides "touch connection" convenience when transferring images to Android smartphones and tablets. You simply touch your NFC-compatible device to the camcorder to establish a connection.
Live Streaming
Share the moment as it happens via Ustream live streaming. Now your circle of friends and family can share the excitement in real time by simply logging in to UStream from anywhere. You can also link your favorite social accounts to notify your friends when you start streaming video.
Multi-Camera Control
Add a different point of view by including other camera angles to your movies. Connect compatible Sony cameras via Wi-Fi and use the camcorder's LCD to preview what the other cameras are seeing and simultaneously start recording on all synced cameras. After recording, you can use the PlayMemories Home software (available as a free download on Sony's website) to easily edit and create multi-view movies.
Highlight Movie Maker
Highlight Movie Maker produces a short highlight movie clip to share and enjoy instantly. Using an advanced algorithm based on the motion gyro, Highlight Movie Maker automatically selects the best scenes from your videos and creates a MP4 highlight reel of your recorded action.

Note: Highlight Move Maker is only available in AVCHD.
Intelligent Auto
This feature automatically determines the type of scene being shot and optimizes a combination of settings from three groups (Face, Scene, Camera shake). It provides optimal results for up to 180 scene types, even at night and in backlit scenes. Selected settings are displayed as icons on the LCD screen for easy reference.
Picture Effect
Add up to seven creative effects (Partial Color, Retro Photo, Soft High-key, High Contrast Mono, Toy Camera, Pop Color, Posterization) without troublesome editing on a computer.
Motion Shot Video
Motion Shot Video plays a sequence of superimposed images that trace recorded action in split-second intervals for you to analyze in detail. During playback, you can adjust the interval, or pause to capture and share a still image.
Additional Features
  • Dual Record for simultaneously capturing HD video and still images
  • Manual iris and shutter speed control
  • My Voice Canceling
  • Manual mic level control
  • Auto wind noise reduction
  • Lock-on autofocus
  • Face Detection and Smile Shutter

Sony HDRCX675/B Reviews

HDR-CX675 Full HD Handycam Camcorder with 32GB Internal Memory is rated 4.1 out of 5 by 14.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very good stabilization at full 60x zoom hand held Went to B&H recently to compare Sony CX675 and Panasonic V770 side-by-side. Sony CX675 has very good stabilization at full 60x zoom hand held. Panasonic has somewhat better low-light performance due to larger sensor. After comparison, decided to go with Sony CX675 and Sony 46mm MC Filter for BOSS and Sensei 46mm lense cap. So far very pleased with choice. Notes: 1) My Windows 7 Media Player seemed to have problem with AVCHD 1080p video files with 5.1 channel sound, so switched CX675 to stereo 2 channel and now no problem. 2) In bright outdoor conditions, changing LCD screen from Normal to Bright setting helps. 3) NP-FV50 battery shows about 2 hours recording time after full charge.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Big Step In 10 Years 10 years ago I purchased a Sony HDR-SR100 camcorder and have used it extensively traveling and taking videos of my grandchildren. I noticed that the video was not what my television was capable of displaying and since I was planning a month long trip to Montana and Wyoming I thought it was time to get a new camcorder. I considered just upgrading my DSLR camera and using it to take video but I need more imshr stabilization than the DSLR lens had to offer. Sony has a great reputation of image stabilization and I began researching. While I wanted a 4K camcorder my budget would not allow that so I concentrated on HD camcorders. I really like the Balanced Optical Steady Shot (BOSS). I chose the Sony HDR-CX675 and I have only had the camcorder a short time but the BOSS works great with my shaky hands. The color and resolution are great. The first thing I noticed was how light weight the camcorder is. When it was delivered I thought the camera was not in the box but it was. This is much more comfortable when recording something that requires you to hand hold for a long time. I highly recommend it.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not realy worth the money I've purchsed this camera a year ago, and I must say that I'm realy disappointed. Although it is very handy and comfortable in your hand, it's video quality is extremely low with compare to today's other media devices (even with compare to a standard smartphone). The output video is very noisy, even in a well lit environment, and the sensor has extremely low dynamic range. It turns every scene to a one that is filled with white spots in all semi-white areas, and very noisy all-around (even in the well-lit areas). I think this camcorder should be priced at most 50% of its market price, in order to fit its value/money.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great camera, easy to use Suggested to two clients to buy this camera and they both love it. One tricky thing to note: the charging cable not a separate piece, so don't look for it in the box. You need to untuck it from the back of the grip strap, plug it in to the included USB extension cable then plug THAT into the included AC charging block that then gets plugged into the wall.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Balanced Optical SteadyShot (BOSS) is a Win! The 'Boss' feature is revolutionary! Those who had experienced 'shaky' video when zoomed-in is 'max'd' would totally appreciate this feature! The built-in memory is also a nice touch. I did not have to purchase another memory card, but of course, you can always insert another card to increase the capacity! USB charging offers great flexibility! You can literally charge this unit using those power bank for cellphones! And the built-in usb plug is also a very nice touch, although I would hope that the cable could be a bit longer. I'm a bit disappointed by the limited capability from the mobile app. I'm also disappointed to NOT see an A/C charger included in the package, although a strong counter argument is that an A/C plug + USB extension wire are provided. Overall, I would totally recommend this product to any casual user.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Camera Love this camera! The gyroscope mounted lens works awesome to limit shake, even when zoomed in far! Also the option of on-board memory or card memory is a great feature. The only thing I can say I wish the camera had was a cover of some kind around the lens since it's wide open---dust/dirt gets in easily. Solved that though by purchasing a 46mm protector filter for a few bucks.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from I would buy this camera over other brands I purchased this camera to use while big game hunting and filming in Alaska. I have owned other Sony cameras and trust their quality. This camera easily fits into my pocket, has a great 30X optical zoom, backside illumination which is a great feature. The image stabilization is important because often times I will be taking advantage of the extended zoom. I purchased a 64 GB card to go along with the 32GB internal and also picked up the lens kit. I wouldn't trust the beautiful memories of this trip to any other brand.
