The BA72 Base Plate for Sony Alpha a7 II and a7R II from Really Right Stuff is designed with anti-twist flanges to keep the mounted camera from twisting. Once the dovetail plate is on, quick release functionality has been added to the camera. Also, this base plate is compatible with all Really Right Stuff clamps and most other Arca-type heads.

The CNC machined 6061-T6 aluminum plate maintains complete access to the battery door without obstructing the tilting LCD monitor of the camera. An option for an L-component is available that will fit the plate's modular design and make a custom-fit L-plate. In addition, a boss has been machined into the side of the plate so an accessory hand or shoulder strap can loop through and carry the camera.

This plate has been type II black anodized, which makes it resistant to scuffs and scratches. Furthermore, the base plate has a laser-engraved center mark on the back to align it on a head.
