does this lens has electric zoom motor? can be zoom through camera button, or only zoom by hands?
Asked by: Ariel
This is a manual zoom lens only. You have to control the zoom by hand. For a lens with a Servo Zoom on it we suggest the Panasonic Lumix G X Vario PZ 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens, B&H # PA144235XS. https://bhpho.to/2omLPck

question

Is this lens supposed to lock up before you want to zoom? Mine is only locking after I'm in the zoom mode and when I want to close it? I thought it should lock up after I close it also.
Asked by: Dan
Dan, the lock only works when you're closing the lens all the way down. I guess this is to keep you in the adjustable range while the lens is in use.(?) Enjoy this lens. Kit lenses don't get a lot of love, but this one is pretty darn good.

question

What is the difference between this Olympus 14-42mm 'R' lens and the 14-42 mm without the 'R'?
Asked by: oona p.
Olympus has made three versions of this lens. The original 14-42mm, the 14-42mm EZ (which is a compact version with less glass) and then the 14-42mm II R which is a revision (or updated) from the original. Roughly the same size as the original but lighter. Hope this helps.
