The 82mm High-Transmission Circular Polarizing Multi-Coated Slim Filter from Heliopan can turn an average shot into a "keeper". With its renowned Schott glass composition and resilient black brass filter ring, this filter offers you features that make it well-worth the investment for both traditional film and digital shooters.

This filter is also unique in design since its slim black brass filter ring is indexed so that if you're not using a traditional SLR, you'll be able to set the rotating ring to a precise setting each time you wish to achieve the same degree of polarization. The brass composition of the filter ring is a benefit since it is less prone to jamming when placing or removing it. Heliopan Slim Circular Polarizers have no front threads

Heliopan has incorporated High-Transmission technology into this filter. It will pass 98.8% of the light passing through it with only a 1-stop loss of light and with no color change to the image. In addition, their highly regarded SH-PMC 16-layer multi-coating (8-layers on each side) gives the filter an edge when it comes to durability, flare reduction as well as dust and moisture-resistance. Anyone who wants to shoot landscapes will find this filter is excellent when it comes to enhancing the blue of the sky as well as making the clouds more distinct. On water, you'll use it to eliminate reflections. And, again, with its substantial multi-coated protection, you'll find it easier to clean when spray or dirt lands on the glass surface.

Heliopan has been a leader in the filter industry since 1949. They are known for their high quality and production standards. Heliopan offers most of their filters with either their standard hard coating or with their industry leading SH-PMC 16-layer multi-coating that transmits over 98.8% of the light striking it on the image plane for the lowest flare and greatest color saturation.

Note: Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems without problems)

Same polarizing effect as regular polarizing filters that lose more light - High-Transmission design loses only 1-stop of light compared to 2.5 from traditional polarizers
The effect of the filter is greatest at a 90° angle to the sun
Reflections are eliminated resulting in greater color saturation
8-coatings on each side produce less flare and maximize reflection reduction
Color neutral regardless of rotation
Top layer on each side of filter repels dust and moisture - easier to clean than other filters
Brass filter ring enhances the life of the filter
Use with traditional film or digital photography

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very Useful To My Photography I love to take photos of landscape and architecture, so this product is my friend. Pretty handy. I have two circular polarizers of the same brand. I love Heliopan Circular Polarizer because it does not really create problem to my photos. I have 3 cameras but when I decide to shoot landscape I always bring my 2 polarizer and have it ready to my 2 wide angle lens. Using those shooting landscape with water really create more dramatic effect.I can see the bottom of the water. I use it also when there is a situation that there is something glaring in the area where I am pointing my camera because it really reduce the glare and I am really happy using this kind of polarizer during fall because it made wonderful effect foliage.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Would Love this filter After waiting like days to make up my mind to purchase I can't. Your not open for orders. I really wanted this filter. I know Heliopan is the best. I had to settle for a lesser grade. Because you're not open. My second choice I had to purchase from another Big Name place. I have spent over $1500 at the other place because your not open. Sure would make sense and more money to have diversity so I can always purchase from the best place in the world. These items I needed were for Professional event coverage. Maybe a new thread in PPA forums about this disappointment would show just how much your needed all the time.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Just buy it. I shoot mainly sunsets and this is imperative for cloud depth and color saturation. There's a reason there are $ filters and $+ filters like this. No blobs and worth every single penny. Only warning is don't screw on too tight. It can be tedious to take off.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Same Heliopan quality as always Slim construction will not cause vignetting on the Canon 16-35 L.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from High Quality Product Smooth action on the rotation without being too loose. Higher transmission is noticeable improvement. Threads are a bit sticky on all the Canon and Tamron lenses I tried it on. Overall quite satisfied with its performance.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not sure about the 1-stop of light loss Good quality filter. I purchase a 77mm and an 82mm for my Canon lenses. So far, however, I am not convinced that there is only one f/stop of light loss. I think it's still 1 and 2/3rd stops of light loss, in common with all other polarizers. I'll keep testing and let you know in further updates. I have a full kit of around fifty Cokin P-Series filters (grads, soft focus, light-balancing, special effects, etc) which I use when the subject matter permits it. My Heliopan polarizers are for 'traveling light' with no filters other than a polarizer. (No grads, no NDs, no effects filters, etc.) I have been a pro photographer for decades and it just seems that filters are used much less these days because many of their effects (warming, cooling, graduated sky color, etc) can be replicated in Lightroom without the risk of lens filtration adversely affecting the optical performance of your lenses. To some extent, these days there is an argument that polarizers are the only filters you need, expect maybe ND (neutral density) filters for all you long-exposure buffs.
