Will this lens work on a D4 and is it full frame
The Nikon AF-S 40mm f/2.8 macro lens, is a DX format lens. While technically you could use it on the D4, the D4 would crop down to DX mode. So, as this is not a full frame lens, it would not be the best choice for a macro lens on the D4. You might look at the Nikon 105mm f/2.8 macro lens (B&H # NI10528GAF). It would be an excellent option for a full frame camera.
