Excelling at close distances, the AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G from Nikon is a 60mm-equivalent macro prime offering a 1:1 life-size maximum magnification along with a 6.4" minimum focusing distance. Benefitting both close-up shooting as well as working at greater distances, the optical design uses a Close Range Correction system that maintains consistent image quality and sharpness throughout the focusing range. Individual elements also feature a Super Integrated Coating, which suppresses flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color fidelity and harsh lighting conditions. Additionally, complementing the imaging capabilities, a Silent Wave Motor affords fast and precise autofocus performance, along with full-time manual focus override, to benefit both stills and video applications.

Nikon AF-S DX Micro NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G Reviews
Excellent for Close-Up Detail
I needed a lens that worked well for photographing jewelry and precious stones. I hadn't been happy with shots I was getting with my other lenses. The NIKKOR 40mm f/2.8G Lens turned out to be perfect for my needs
Nikkor 40mm f/2.8 Great lens
Great lens, love it
Amazing clarity!
Love this lens! Takes photos with amazing sharpness. From portraits to macro its an all around amazing lens.
Great product!!
This lens works great so far!! I just started out in macro photography and this lens is petty easy to use. I would definitely recommend it even though I haven't used it a whole lot yet
This should be your first macro lens
For almost 2 years I've been shooting macros with the 18-55 kit lens and a 10x magnifier with a 5x loupe taped to that. It did the job, but the quality is what you would imagine. After shooting with this lens, the images were now crisp, clear and no chromatic aberration. If you're on the fence for a macro lens, get it - I wish I had gotten this sooner.
Good photographic lens
Good lens. Compact and lightweight. I have tested it on my nikon d7500, video autofocus is a problem. However, in manual mode it works perfectly and is silent. For photography it is essential and a good starting point to start with macro photography.
Made in dictatorship of China
It's built more cheaply than my 18-70 nikon kit lens that came with my d70 years ago. Optically very nice. Focus is almost silent and pretty quick for macro lens. I wish b&h would add where its made in the specs. My partner works for the dept of defense. Trust me, you guys will be sorry if you continue to empower China. Thinking of returning lens but B&h is such a top notch company I may not trouble them and jjust keep shooting this excellent piece of plastic.
Micro 40
Needed something as machined like a watch to shoot a watch... working great.
