Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love design I prefer this style and design of card reader to the current variety of USB thumb drives, most of which if not all now have embedded software that you can't get rid of and either must use or navigate around when doing a copy or transfer. With these card readers you just plug in an SD card and you're good to go on data transfers and backups without any software getting in the way. This Vivitar model is almost identical to a reader which Kingston used to make but which I have been unable to find lately. I guess Kingston discontinued it and Vivitar picked up the patent. Probably the only problem is that they are a bit larger than a thumb drive but that doesn't bother me.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Moderate speed, large body Use for downloading datalogger data to my macbook. Transmission speeds kind of slow, and it covers the only other USB port on the mac, which I need simultaneously. So, I don't use this. I bought a different one with a short cable to the USB port. It's faster and I can use the other port.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not So Good The SD card on mine doesn't go in easily AT ALL. Nervously tried shoving it in, and while it did go in the computer couldn't read it. 100% sure I was putting the card in correctly. Beware? Hopefully mine was the only bad one...?

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Awesome for the price! I tried several other cheap models from @and they either did not work at all with my 32-gig SDHC or they would read but lock up writing every time.I ordered the Vivtar adapter from here and it works great. I am running a Virual Machine from it and have no problems.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from One worked one didn't i bought two of these...first one I opened worked perfectly...second one couldn't be recognized by my MacBook...I tried it on a PC and same problem...not wasting any time trying to figure it out for something that costs less than $10...I'll send it back...

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Easy Use Travels well & can use with many different cards and OS's. Unfortunately, have found that it can break easily at the USB connection...
