Tenba 637-332 overview

  • 1Description

The sage/khaki Discovery: Large Photo/Laptop Daypack from Tenba is a rough and tough entry into the world of photo/laptop packs. Lightweight and strong, it is designed to hold a bevy of gear safely and securely while providing a way to organize that gear in an easy to access way.

Rated to hold 1-2 DSLRs, 4-6 extra lenses, flash and numerous accessories, it also holds a 15" (38.1cm) laptop in its own rear padded compartment. The bag is basically divided in half with the bottom half being for your gear that is held in a removable, pop out compartment. The top half is for all the extras like a small jacket, books, or even your lunch. The top half is even designed in a slanted fashion to provide for easier access.

The exterior is a tough, water-repellent nylon that is supported by a rapidly deployed rain cover for those moments when you're caught in the rain or snow. The bottom of the bag has a waterproof bottom panel that protects the bag for when you place it on the ground.

Carry it around by its fully adjustable backpack straps and waist belt that make toting this pack a pleasure. There's even a top carry handle for those times when you have to grab it out of the back seat of your car or out of the closet it's stored in. All the zippers are self-healing.

The two sides of the pack have pull-out airline-style mesh pockets perfect for stashing water bottles and other quick access items. The front accessory pocket is perfect for holding your MP3 player or iPhone. There's also a handy ID pocket for your business card or address label.

    Tenba 637-332 reviews

Discovery: Large Photo/Laptop Daypack (Sage/Khaki) is rated 4.3 out of 5 by 24.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not what I had hoped I was looking for a backpack to handle my Pentax K-3 with grip attached, my 12-24, 18-55 and 55-300 lenses. I have a small shoulder bag that everything (just) fits into, but I wanted to balance the weight better for upcoming longer trips. Let me first say that out of the box, the Tenba Discovery is very impressive. Nice materials, good construction, feature set, and light weight. However, the camera section was a let down. I had two issues with it. I had seen all the on line photos of the way the camera is stored and that did not put me off. But with my grip attached, the camera was not easily placed in the bag. Although the dividers can be placed anywhere in the compartment, due to the cradle shape of two of them, I could not get a good fit. Also, due to a tight fit, it was quite difficult to open the compartment and pull the insert out far enough to remove the camera without potentially scratching it on the zipper. That was neither as quick nor as convenient as I was looking for. So, for these reasons, I returned the bag. For someone not using a grip, this might be a very good backpack. But for me, it was not what I was looking for.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from So far I love it! I just got the Tenba daypack as a Christmas gift and went to the St. Louis Botanical Gardens to test it out. Walked around/shot for about two hours. I love it! I had my son with me, so I had snacks, his sippy cup, his point and shoot kids camera, a change of clothes, his socktabogan, my keys, wallet, phone, and a water bottle for me. All of this fit in the top compartment/side pockets (along with some of my filters, the waterproof rain cover, extra memory cards and batteries, lens cleaner, etc.). The bottom does seem to be waterproof. I set it in a small puddle and the water beaded up on it. Surprisingly, I had some water drip on the outside of the pack without the waterproof cover on and it beaded up as well! I wiped it off easily and it was completely dry. NOTE: Pay attention to the straps when setting the pack down in/near water. It is no fun wearing the extra chest support straps while wet. The bottom compartment unzips separately, so you do not have to dig around your extra stuff from the top compartment. In the bottom compartment, I had: my canon rebel t2i with a 75-200 mm lens and a battery grip attached, my 18-55 mm lens, a 50 mm lens, and an external flash with plenty of room to spare. In fact, there were still 3 full spots left for extra lens or flashes, 4 if you stack the 50 mm and 18-55 mm in the same compartment (That is basically the height of each compartment). There is velco so you can make adjustments to compartment widths. You can fit A LOT in this bag. If that is what you are looking for, go for it! Size wise, this looks like a regular backpack like you would use in school. I thought it was comfortable. That was my main hesitation to buy this particular pack, because I had read in other reviews that it wasn't very comfy and it should have more padding in the shoulder straps. I didn't go on an all day hike or anything, but for walking around for 2 hours, I thought it was great. Better than all my backpacks I ever had for school. I am a 5'3 female, so I had my 6' boyfriend try it on and wear it for about 15 minutes, and he thought it was comfy as well. Still haven't tried out the laptop compartment. Sorry! OVERALL: Would definitely recommend this bag! If you are looking for something that is comfy, reasonably priced, somewhat stylish, well-built, has lots of organization, and has the capability to house lots of lenses and other attachments, then this is the bag for you! Enjoy, fellow photographers! Happy shooting!

Rated 3 out of 5 by from One major disappointment I was so excited when this arrived, but was soon disappointed. While there were many things to love about this camera backpack- great color, very nice quality (zippers work smoothly, well padded, nice material, very roomy), it was very difficult to get my camera and lenses in and out of the lower compartment. The design is such that the shape of the opening does not allow for the padded camera insert to easily be partially pulled out to remove your items. Either the insert needs to be smaller and lower, or the opening needs to be wider at the top. I really wanted to make this bag work for me, but I could tell that it was just going to be too much of a hassle. I ordered another bag with a similar design which unfortunately cost more and does not have quite as nice quality, but it is super easy to get my camera in and out. I'll be returning the Tenba and keeping the second one.

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Quality Product There is no question about the quality and craftsmanship of this product. My only complaint is that the lower pouch is difficult to pull out when loaded with a DSLR and lens. Grabbing the front of the pouch and pulling causes the Velcro divers to pull apart....very frustrating! To overcome this I use 2 hands and cradle the pouch and gently lift and pull from the sides. Because the bag is so well made and the price was great I decided to keep it. Buyer Beware!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great bag. First thing first, the bag is great! It is a bit smaller than the one I used to have but everything is packed tighter and padded so all the stuff i used to carry fits nicely in. I am packing there a Nikon D7100 with an SB900 flash plus remotes, 50 mm lens, an extension tube and some filters ... and there is still room. The laptop section seems also roomy and although I did not used it up till now I will not hesitate to carry my laptop in there.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Travel Pack I bought this for an upcoming trip to Canada. I wanted to keep my camera gear safe but I also needed room for a bunch of other things. I used this as my carry on and it was perfect. I fit my Olympus E-PL7 body, 4 lenses, a mini tripod, remote shutter, dust blower, and lensball all in the lower camera area. In the top there was plenty of room for two pairs of headphones and other assorted things. In the back I was able to easily fit 2 10.1" tablets. The bag fit in front of me on the plane and could have fit under the seat in front of me. Very comfortable. It is probably too big for a short hike.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great comfortable backpack for multiple cameras I like the exquisite color deviating from the several black backpacks I have had for years, Ergonomics are excellent. It holds my 5DM4 with the 24-70 f/2.8mm lens attached, a Leica M240 with 21mm f/1.4 attached plus a Leica 50mm f/0.95 detached. It also holds a Fujifilm X100S with so much capacity left on the upper compartment. All the accessories are well accommodated. It fits so comfortably on my shoulder for hours without fatigue. This is the best replacement for my other Lowpro bags.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Sturdy, Well-made, Roomy Backpack for all my equipment! I love this backpack so far! It holds a lot - my camera body, speedlight and 4-5 lenses. The only thing that I have found negative so far is that it is hard to pop the front part out to get to the camera/lenses when it is full. This will help with theft though while traveling :)
