Eiko SP27/50K Reviews

SP27/50K Spiral Fluorescent Lamp (26W/120V) is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 38.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Cost Effective Solution to Lighting OVERALL: Recommended #1 --> Uniform light at 5000K 'daylight': it matches other 5000k lights of varying types currently being used in my continous lighting set-up. #2 --> For the cost, these are the easiest way to increase shot quality. #3 --> 1 bulb provides adequate light, equivalent to around 120w. Bulb's work well in quads. #4 --> So far they run cooler than other fluorescent lamps I've tried. #5 --> Have only used them a week so can't speak for longetivity.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from They work! I have 14 of these in two soft box fixtures. They throw a nice even diffused light. I think they have an 80 CRI rating which is at the lower end of the pro photo video desired level. But so far the colors are fine.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Garbage Bulbs - Get what you pay for. Unfortunately I got these bulbs as part of the Impact 4 socket softbox kit and they are absolutely terrible. Very Weak. The light barely escapes the softbox, and they are rated at 5000K, so about 500K short of daylight; and the CRI is only 80. They cast a weird greenish hue and shadows and skin tone look pale, dead, and flat. To be fair, they are only $; but your money is better used on the taxes on a better bulb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good Lamp with medium heat dispersion. Quick start time although I'm not sure if turning the bulb on and off shortens the lifespan of this lamp. After extended use don't be fooled to think that due to this lamp being a CFL it would be cool to the touch...

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good value for the money spent. This bulb is used to mimic natural sunlight when displaying/identifying colors on old telegraph insulators. Works great for the money spent and provides plenty of illumination.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good, but not a lot of light output I'm using 12 of these in a three light indoor video studio. They are a little slow to warm up, but produce a consistent light that will maintain a good white balance. However, be careful of handling them by the rings. I broke one just trying to screw it into the base. Handle them by the base, and keep the box they came in for transport. The footcandles are a little low, even when four lamps are used together in one fixture, but they do a good job lighting a single talent.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worked well for portraits First time trying them for portraits. Did a directory photoshoot at my church. Purchased muslim background. Turned off ceiling lights and used Impact octagon 4-light system and Impact softbox-4light flourescent. These lights worked very well, and were color balanced. I did notice a slight color shift of skin (but it was camera settings, not lights). I used auto-white balance instead of flash, or flourescent settings. I use a Nikon camera---skina little orange. Friend used a Canon---skin was perfect. I used both the Octagon and Rectangular Softboxes placed 2-3ft in front of camera at 45 degree angles. Even light with just enough shadows to keep pic from being flat. Would definitely recommend to others. I plan to replace some of the lights with SP50 for higher output. VERY SATISFIED for the cost. ------------------------------------------
