Rated 4 out of 5 by from This isn't your average florescent light While all bulbs may look the same this one provides the light you need for video production. Make sure you keep the boxes these come in. They pack well and protect these very delecate bulbs in transit. The light temperature is perfect for a small studio and they generate far less heat than incadescent or halogen bulbs. We thought we found an alternative for a few dollars less and we were wrong. Why risk color balance for a couple of dollars. Use the right bulbs. These are designed for studio use and do a fantastic job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great quality of light I use this product in a large softbox while shooting interviews and it works great when I am balancing with daylight. When I use three of these at a time it gives me a great fill in or accent when shooting an interview where daylight is involved. The light is also very cool so I don't worry about burning myself when making adjustments and don't have to wait around for it to cool down after the interview is over. The stated life of 8000 hours is much less when you drop them, as would be expected with a lamp.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from It's huge You need to know - this is about a foot long. This is what happens when you use the same product photo for all the sizes. The light is intense and white - no problem, that part is great - but the base is so wide that the bulb can't actually screw in because of the surrounding fixture - it won't fit in many studio lights, and will stick out of the end. It's certainly not going to fit in any of my existing lights. When you read the box dimensions - you can work out that it is large, but actual product dimensions would have been useful.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good light color I bought some less expensive CF spiral bulbs from @ that I used for a few shoots before realizing they had a real green cast to them. If it were a color balance toward blue or yellow, it would have been easier to correct in post, but green is tough. These are quite accurate as far as I can tell. The one issue is the extremely large ballast base that didn't allow me to use them in the 4-bulb head, so I'll need extenders.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from It's Uuuuuge This bulb is big. It really is. I was just saying how big this bulb is. And the light - the light is great. It is so white. It is the whitest light. And let me tell you - I know about white light. The base is so wide - I can't even get it in my light fixture - that's how wide it is. But it's great. It's a great bulb.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Packs a lot of light in one bulb I will be using this as a fill light for video interviews. Like all compact fluorescent bulbs, you have to remember that it can break easily, but it's great for lighting subjects without roasting them!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good for product photography A much softer light that works well for cutting down glare on product photography. For my application shooting stone sculptures works better than a regular high watt bulb.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great for starter setup I bought this for use in an inexpensive soft box and have been very pleased. It's really gotten the job done for interviews in low-lit rooms, and the color is accurate-set your daylight WB and you're good. You won't light a huge ballroom with it, and like people say it's big and you need to be sure it'll fit in your gear. But for lighting on a budget it's a good option IMHO.
