Microboards QD-BD-H4 overview

  • 1Description

The QD-BD-H4 Blu-ray Tower Duplicator by Microboards allows you to copy up to four BD-R or BD-RW discs simultaneously. However, the QD-BD-H4 doesn't just burn Blu-ray discs; it can also duplicate all CD-R/RW and most DVD formats at speeds up to 48X.

The built-in hard drive holds up to 500 GB of information allowing you to save multiple master disc images internally or rip audio CD's and burn a mix disc straight from the duplicator. As if that wasn't enough, connect the QD-BD-H4 to your PC via USB 2.0 and drag and drop files onto one recorder.

The QD-BD-H4 also includes PrassiTech Zulu2 media recording and mastering software which allows you to easily prepare any format disc for duplication from your PC. However, the bundled software is merely an option. You can easily do everything you need from the intuitive four button panel on the QD-BD-H4 making their virtually no need for a PC in any way. The panel also keeps advanced features such as disc verification and adjustable recording speeds easily accessible and available at any time.

    Microboards QD-BD-H4 reviews

    QD-BD-H4 Blu-ray Tower Duplicator is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 4.
Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good, but read carefully! This QD tower does a great job burning, duplicating, and archiving... However, I feel a bit mislead by the unclear description on both the B&H and Microboard websites. Please be aware that when it says drag-and-drop files from your PC, it means ONLY to one of the burners. You CANNOT access the hard drive via USB. At all. So no dragging-and-dropping to the hard drive. Do be aware of that. If you want to use the hard drive feature to store disk images, you have to first burn to a master CD/DVD/BD via your computer, and then use the tower to import the disk onto the hard drive. I feel that this is a stupid workflow, and that it was not entirely clear on the websites or the manuals. I like the product and the features do work well; but had I been made aware of the lack of hard drive connectivity, I would have purchased another tower that allowed hard drive access via USB.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Must Have companion for HD video I recently switched from SD video to HD (AVCHD) and up-graded my editing program to Final Cut X. My video length usually exceeded 34 min and I didn't want to loose the HD quality of the new system. Blu-ray was the format that I needed to complete this. I also wanted to keep the finished product in the edited format including the chapter markers that were in place. This unit can be connected to your computer with a USB connection - a very simple set-up. The files transfer & record the master disc (Blu-ray or DVD or whatever format you need). Once the master disc is created the duplicator is a stand alone unit & you can make up to 3 copies at a time. Be sure to check the burning speed from the computer to the burn speed on the disc you are using, as well as the burn speed on the duplicator - lost a few discs because I was in too much of a hurry.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Works well. I use this to mass duplicate events I shoot. I used it for both Blu-ray and DVD. Works great out of the box as stand alone. Not the best for drag and drop with computer.
