    Rokinon 8mm f/3.5 reviews

8mm Ultra Wide Angle f/3.5 Fisheye Lens for Sony E Mount Cameras is rated 4.2 out of 5 by 13.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from The Fifth Dimension I bought this for use on the Sony NEX-VG20. With a mount specific to the NEX it's a perfect match. Aperture and focus are manuel on this lens and with the VG20 you'll have to mind your distance on the focus ring if doing close-up filming as it's tough to tell when out of focus. Mostly when outdoors I'm using infinity. This lens gives a great 180 deg. view and if you aren't careful you'll film your feet a lot, but it's tube is long enough to clear the permanently mounted microphone on the VG20 which was an issue using other short-bodied fisheye lenses. For the price, I like this lens a lot.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Havng a ball! First, I live on the prairie. Our world is visually horizontal. After fifty years of shooting without a fisheye lense, I am discovering a whole new world of dimension and having fun doing it. This lense is sharp, color depth is vivid and it works great on my Sony NEX 5n. Unbeatable for the price.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent fisheye for Sony NEX5n I would have done five stars but it's manual. I love this lens. Very much fun making boring images take on interesting compositions. Sharpness and color is great. Flare one has to watch out for on something so wide but you get the hang of it. This is an excellent value. Don't stop at the Sony add on. It's not bad but this is so much better and $ more than the Sony add on.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from nice, good quality but a big heavy I am a not so expirient photographer so it could be I misunderstand things, bought this for fun and have used it a lot, I love these strange pictures a fisheye makes and play with the camera to get those result - the buildt quality is more than suffisient, no problem at all, operation and mounting is exellent - the lens is bigger than I imagined and a bit heavy which I do not like, the balance gets a bit wrong - even in strong sun light and with a high aperature, f/22 etc there seems to be some strange coulors around items far away - also, I may misunderstnd or something but it is like the camera, sony nex5r, is contra adjust (iso?) when I adjust the aperature, the camera have no information about setting of the lens

Rated 4 out of 5 by from I would buy this product again I always wanted a fisheye lens but could never justify the price especially considering it is not a daily use lens This lens solves both concerns Excellent performance considering the modest price when compared to oem lenses Fits the camera ( Sony nex5n) very well

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wear nice shoes Wow, this is so wide, that you'll film your feet if you're not careful. Love the quality for the price.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Didn't fit on the camera Ordered this lens, a few others, and the Sony NEX-C3 together. Everything else worked great. This one didn't fit on the camera. It said for Sony NEX on the box, but didn't work with the camera. Instructions said to align white dot on lens to white dot on camera. There was no white dot on the lens. When I found the right alignment and attached it, the camera said it didn't recognize the lens and wouldn't release the shutter. No pictures. Returned the lens and tried again. Same result. Going to try another product now. I don't know if there was just a packaging mixup or what, but this lens doesn't work with the NEX system. Note, the B&H guys were great! Helpful staff, prompt response/service, hassle-free returns. Exactly what I'd expect from B&H. If the lens attached properly I'm sure it would have been great. The rest of the setup has been a pleasure to deal with.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Exceeds expectations. There are many favorable reviews of this Rokinon fisheye made by Samyang. And this gem of a lens deserve them. I was lamenting the loss of my Sigma 10-20mm UWA UMC for Canon mounts. When I switched over to the Sony E-mount, I wanted another UWA with excellent image quality and sharpness. This 8mm f3.5 version isn't as fast as the latest f2.8 model, and it's slightly longer and heavier, but the images are just as great. Color, sharpness, no vignetting on an APS-C sensor, and oh so wide! The manual focus can be a bit of a task at 8mm. But most scenarios will be at infinity. The lens is built well, no cheap materials. A bit nosy-heavy for a NEX body due to its weight. I got mine at a great price from B&H, and recommend it to anyone with an APS-C E-mount camera. It's a nice value for the results it yields. Fun lens to have around.
