Sony VG-C77AM Overview

This Sony Vertical Battery Grip will give you a firm hold on your a77, a77 II, or a99 II camera, reducing the strain on your wrists when you have long sessions shooting vertical photos. The shutter button is right at your fingertip, and controls are conveniently positioned for comfortable shooting. Made to be used with your Sony a77, a77 II, or a99 II DSLR camera, this vertical grip features a rugged design, gasket-sealed buttons to protect against dust and moisture, and a built-in compartment for two NP-FM500H InfoLITHIUM batteries (sold separately) for up to 1,060 shots. Plus, this grip automatically switches to backup battery power for uninterrupted shooting.

Comfortable and Ergonomic
A firm, comfortable grip for vertical-position shooting with the Sony Alpha a77, a77 II, or a99 II. Buttons and controls are conveniently placed and easy to reach for greater comfort.
Dual Batteries
Holds two InfoLITHIUM batteries for extended shooting (sold separately). Stamina power for up to 1,060 shots. The battery grip does not have a charging function, so the batteries would have to be charged using the camera body.
Gasket-Sealed
The rugged, but lightweight, body design has gasket-sealed controls to resist dust and moisture. The grip has a 1/4" tripod mount on the bottom.
Auto Switching Power
When using two batteries, the grip will automatically switch to the second battery if the first becomes depleted. Switching does not interrupt camera operation.
Accurate Battery Life Indicator
Accurate remaining power indicator shows remaining power in percentage. When using two batteries, indicators show which battery is being used and what percentage of life is left.

This battery grip is designed specifically for the Sony A77 and will not be compatible with the A65.

question

With two batteries in the grip, does the camera body also/still need to have a battery in place?
Asked by: John M.
No, it's impossible to keep battery in camera body, when you plug in grip. You insert grip into battery place.

question

can this also fit the sony a58?
Asked by: Anonymous
I'm afraid that I don't own the a58, so I'm not absolutely sure that it will fit. I have a few other cameras by Sony (a200, a77, a850) and they all have different vertical grips per model. I went out to Sony's website and the grip only lists the a77 as capatible - so I would think that it will not fit.

question

Is it compatible with A77 II, there is no info about that in the spec?
Asked by: Anonymous
Please contact the seller. I LOVE you it!! I took pictures for four hours and only used one battery but didn't feel rushed. I liked having the extra battery.

question

Can you still mount the camera on a tripod using the grip?
Asked by: Barry
Yes, the grip has a standard 1/4 threaded hole for a tripod plate to be attached. The hole is on the bottom face of the grip just about where the screw is shown in the picture but about 1/4 closer to the face of the grip with the buttons
