Olympus MCG-2 Reviews

Large Grip for E-P3 PEN Camera (Black) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 48.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from It also works on the E-PL5 It's been hard getting used to the feel of the E-PL5 which is quite awkward in my small hands. There's just about nothing to hold onto at the left side and the supplied extra screw-in hand grip is pitifully small. I learned about the MCG-2 from an online photo forum. What a difference it is to have something deeper to grasp onto. I also like the rubbery feel, which makes my grip feel more secure. The E-PL5 is still not as comfortable in my hands as my E-PL1, but it feels a whole lot better than it did without this new grip and the image quality makes up for the lack of comfort.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Just a bit more secure in the hand This Large Grip for the E-P3 provides just a little more to grab onto, and a feeling of security when walking around with the small camera in your hand. it has a rubbery finish, unlike the harder plastic smaller grip that comes standard with the camera. It is only a little bigger but seems to make a difference in the hand. Great for street photography and piece of mind. In the photo below you can see the depth it adds to the grip placed on this clear tube.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Excellent E-P3 Upgrade I love my new Olympus E-P3. It's a beautiful camera and fun to use. OK, the menu system is prettier to look at (on the gorgeous OLED screen), but could still be more user friendly. The grip that comes with the E-P3 is OK, but not too substantial. The optional large grip is much better (at least for me). It let's me hold the E-P 3 with one hand without worrying. It also makes the E-P3 more comfortable to hold when using longer lenses (panasonic 45-200 for example). Wish it was included with the E-P3 package (that's why I gave it only 4 stars), but it's definitely worth the money to upgrade.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Transformed my camera Bought this for my new E-PL5 and found that it transformed the camera's usability dramatically. My E-PL5 is MUCH EASIER to grip and shoot with. I strongly recommend it for anyone who has an interchangeable grip EP camera. It has a nice, grippy, tacky feel which inspires confidence in all situations - even for someone with big hands. On a side note (the reason it gets four rather than five stars), it is absolutely ridiculous that Olympus doesn't include this with its interchangeable grip cameras as an option given that it must cost next to nothing to produce (what did I pay for this camera again?), and even more ridiculous that it charges more than $10 for it as an aftermarket option. That said, I might have returned the camera without it. If you have an EP model camera with interchangeable grip, do yourself a favor and get one.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from What a difference a grip makes I can't imagine using the PEN E-P3 without a grip. But I found the one included with the kit to be too small to provide the secure grip I wanted. This large grip is just what I was looking for. It takes a second to install and probably less than a minute to appreciate how it enhances the ergonomics (at least for my medium sized male hands). I would have given this 5 stars but I think it is ridiculous to pay so much for an accessory that should have been included in the first place. That said, B&H had the best price and I am really glad I ordered this. It makes a great camera perfect.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from decent grip The only reason I gave this grip four stars is because it is a totally unneccesary accessory. Or should I say neccessary. This is the grip that should come with the camera! I shouldn't have had to buy this as an accessory. That said, it wasn't too expensive. Thanks B&H.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Improves E-PL5 Handling Having upgraded from the E-PL2 to the E-PL5, it was disappointing to find out the newer camera doesn't handle as well as the old one, especially with longer lenses like the m.Zuiko 60mm f2.8 Macro. Thankfully the grip is interchangeable, and this large grip massively improves the handling of the small and compact E-PL5 It's rubber texture is also much better suited traction wise, and the curvature of the grip makes finger arrangement feel less cramped

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Nice option for E-P3 I bought this for my E-P3; not that the original was uncomfortable or didn't do the job, but rather this product seemed to get quite a few positive responses, and the price was pretty reasonable. Overall I do like the large grip better than the smaller one. In addition to giving the camera a little better feel (in my opinion anyways), it seems to be made of a slightly softer, grippier, material. A nice option for the money.
