The Weaver 301 Pistol Mount Base is a good idea but does not fit the firearm particularly well. My reason for selecting this mount was to avoid drilling additional holes in the pistol. Where the mount sits on the rear sight base it requires some custom fitting in order to sit flat. My first attempt at using the mount was with the rear screw seated first, and then the barrel band tensioning screw. That resulted in not enough elevation or windage in the scope to become zeroed. After fitting and tensioning the barrel band screw first I was able to have enough scope adjustment to zero. My fitting was done with a flat file, filing till the base sat evenly on the pistols' rear sight base.
