The Sachtler Ace M Fluid Head with 2-Stage Aluminum Tripod & Mid-Level Spreader is a full tripod system for videographers who use HDSLR cameras and smaller camcorders. Whether you're doing documentaries, ENG, weddings, corporate videos, or any other type of projects with a smaller camera, the Ace M system matches your needs, enabling broadcast-style performance with lightweight components. With its light weight, compact size, and mid-level spreader, this system is perfect for projects that involve multiple setup changes on unpredictable surfaces.

With a payload up to 8.8 lb, the Ace M fluid head features five steps of counterbalance as well as a plate that features a 4.1" range of adjustment, so you can balance your small camera to a very precise degree. Designed by Sachtler engineers for the Ace fluid head system, the SA drag system enables smooth, precise panning and tilting via the head's pan bar, with three grades of drag in both the horizontal and vertical dimensions, plus the option of zero drag. The head's tilt range is +90° to -75°.

The tripod mounts the head via its 75mm bowl. With the Ace M head attached, the two-stage aluminum model reaches a maximum height of 66.5" for a comfortable working height for almost all users. Also included is a mid-level which adds to the stability of the system on any surface, indoors or out.

SA Drag for Perfect Performance

For the Ace fluid head system, Sachtler engineers developed a patented drag, SA (synchronized actuated) drag, which guarantees accuracy and repeatability at a remarkable price. With three vertical and three horizontal grades of drag, SA drag enables fine adjustments for precise panning and tilting. Damping can also be completely deactivated

Lightweight Material

Weighing just 3.7 lb on its own, the Ace M head is composed of a glass fiber-reinforced composite material, which keeps the head especially light and offers a comfortable, non-slip surface feel. The head enables camera operators to work extremely intuitively and professionally – and with the system's light weight and compact size, operators will want to take Ace on the go

Familiar Sachtler Features

The Ace M head reflects Sachtler's 50 years of developing camera support products, which is evident in such practical features as the Ace M camera plate's parking position for spare camera screws and the long 4.1" sliding range. The plate comes with a 1/4"-20 screw and a video pin

Broadcast Feel for Smaller Cameras

With its payload range of 0-8.8 lb, the Ace M fluid head and legs are ideal for smaller HD & HDV camcorders as well as HDSLR cameras. The five-step counterbalance makes it easy to achieve proper balance quickly

Is it possible to remove the screw at the bottom of the head and mount it on flat head tripod?
Asked by: shreyans
no, not on the Ace M head. It is possible to get the head upgraded in a Sachtler service centre to a removeable screw.

question

Hi I want to mount an Edelkrone slider on my Sachtler Ace M, but the screw on my release plate is to small. Is there a way to solve this problem?
Asked by: Freddy B.
Yes, call, email or go to each company's website and relates to them the issue.. I think you'll have to put in the legwork with the companies that manufacture the products you are using. Typically, the slider company will provide adapters with their products. We use a slider too, different company, and they included an adapter for 3/8 mounts. Good luck.

question

Repair the legs. I have hardly used my although it is past the warranty and the leg just fell apart with no apparent way to reconnect it does anyone know how to?
Asked by: E
Sorry you are having that difficulty. Ours is about 3 years old and never a problem. We love our 2 ACE M tripods! I did have that issue with Libec sticks (LS38s), and had to look for tiny screw holes that held the legs fastened together. The screws were very tiny and they kept loosening, making the bottom stage legs fall off. Just needed to keep extra supply of screws and then reposition/attach the bad legs. But regarding the ACE Ms, sorry, I don't know how the ACE legs stay together, they just do for us. Best bet, contact Sachtler. Tom Hanson, PCTV, Palm Coast, FL

Do you think this tripod would be able to handle ...

Do you think this tripod would be able to handle a Canon C100 Mk ii? With battery and lens the camera is 5lbs already. This tripod stats the weight max is 8lbs.
Asked by: Steven
Quick answer: The Ace will handle the Canon. I use the Sachtler Ace M with Panasonic DVX 200. You can check the spec but looks like the two cameras are close in weight. The trippd works very well. I have a Sachtler 20 as well and the Ace does not compare however $4,000 vs $600 the Ace is a great value.

question

Can the 75mm bowl be removed?
Asked by: Jonathan Q.
Sorry, no, it cannot. If you did remove it, the top of the legs would not be connected to anything and you could not mount a camera. However, you can use a Manfrotto 520BALL 75mm Half Ball. With this you can mount a flat base tripod head on a 75mm bowl tripod.

Can this tripod be used with a Canon EOS C100 II camera?
Asked by: Alvaro M
The tripod is really designed for DSLR and mirrorless cameras. It can probably hold your Canon - but it would be pushed to its limit - or even beyond, depending on what lens and accessories are being used. I'd recommend looking for a heavier duty tripod.

Hi, can I use this ace m fluid head on a sirui monopod?
Asked by: Sofia
We're afraid not. The head in this tripod only connects to a 75mm bowl. You will not be able to use it on a Sirui Monopod.
