Great speaker stands

These are great heavy duty speaker stands. I use them for SVS Ultra bookshelf speakers. These stands can holds their weight easily. The stands look great also, and very high quality. This is the fourth set of speaker stands I purchased, and they are by far the best.

Very nice stands

I'd really give these a 4.5 rating. Since the B&H system only allows for integer ratings, I went ahead and gave 'em a 5.These are well designed, robust and aesthetically pleasing monitor stands. They are a good height for a standing desk type production station, which is what I pruchased them for.A circular base would be maximally stable, but as long as the stands aren't in a high traffic position these should do the job nicely. There's a column channel that you can fill with sand or lead shot to deaden vibrations and increase the mass of the system. I filled mine with sand and the stands feel very safe and secure and are well damped.I also considered the K&M 26740 (which has a circular base), but each one of those costs as much as a pair of the MS-90/45. I'm glad I went with the MS-90s as they are considerably cheaper and are well suited for my needs.

Packaging causes marring on stands

Received the stands today (1/2/14), and was dismayed to see how Ultimate packs them from factory. The main columns are placed in sleeves of plastic and zip tied to a thin sheet of cardboard. The bases and other parts (all in bags) are placed directly underneath the columns, on their own cardboard sheet. These two layers are somewhat loose in the main shipping box, which results in significant scuffing and removal of the paint finish on both stands, down to the bare aluminum. It is obvious that the scuffing was due to the zip ties causing friction during shipping. The areas with paint removed is from contact with the bases.I considered going through the hassle of an RMA, but am certain that the same issue would be there on ANY set I get, due to the poor packaging that Ultimate uses. I think the only way to get an unblemished set would be to go to a store and open boxes until a virgin set is found, which I'm sure most retailers wouldn't be thrilled with you doing. It's a let down to pay almost $$ for a blemished product, but I'll learn to live with it.

They're solid stands to hold monitor speakers and work as intended.

These were just what I needed for my visual effects workstation. I recently bought a desk that can be raised to a standing position and needed to move my monitor speakers to make room for a second screen. I considered wall mounting them but decided that there 45 inch stands would be a better solution. Very happy with my decision.
