    Olympus 261500B reviews

    M.ZUIKO Digital ED 14-42mm f/3.5-5.6 Micro 4/3 Zoom (Silver) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 8.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Wonderful little lens I got this lens as a kit with the E-P2. Since I have top notch lenses like the ZD 14-35 f2 which I think is an incredible achievement of current optical technology , and several last generation Leica M and Hasselblad lenses, I didn't expect much about this tiny and light plastic lens. I was totally wrong in my initial appreciation, this is a great little optical gem. Optically is very sharp with beautiful color rendition. It allows a great degree of print enlargement with excellent results. Built is quite good and strong even though is plastic. I'm using it a lot and now I'm planning to buy the new little ZD 9-18mm f4-5.6

Rated 5 out of 5 by from ZUIKO Digital ED 14-42mm for E-P2 This a great all purpose lens for the E-P2. A terrific compliment to the 17mm f/2.8 I use indoors. The 14-42 is a relatively fast lens with a very useful zoom range. The 4/3 format is a compact size and this lens is not at all intrusive while giving effective focal lengths of 28mm to 84mm. Mounted on a tripod you can get great, sharp portraits if you are able to control the natural light. Zero complaints.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A versatile lens In the micro 4/3 world, this lens is frequently overlooked. It's one of two kit lens choices with the E-P2, along with the 17mm pancake lens -- also a great lens. But the 14 - 42mm lens is really versatile in its focal lengths, in its size -- the lens collapses -- and in its being a work-horse of a lens. I just love it.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazingly good kit lens I first bought a refurbished EP-1 and 17mm f 2.8 pancake lens, turning my nose up at the 14-42mm standard lens. But then, needing a slightly longer lens for portrats, I bought one (also from B%H) and used it at an airshow on static, WWI replica planes. I printed the photos 13 X 19 on an Epson 1400 and was astounded at the quality! Would my 5D Mk. II with L lens have done better? Probably, but these photos were awfully good, and I am very picky!

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Very useful lens I bought an EP-1 with the 17mm lens and optical viewfinder and added this 14-42 to increase versatility. The 14-42 is proving to be very useful as a general purpose lens. The only fly in the ointment is the very light build quality of the lens. While I realize the plastic barrels and collapsable design of the lens makes for compactness and lightness, the overall build does not inspire confidence. I would have preferred a lens that is heavier and larger if the build was better. I cannot fault the optics, however. I've been very pleased with all my photos done with this lens. The AF of the Olympus micro 4/3 cameras has been criticized as slow and inaccurate in some reviews but I have not found this to be the case. But then I don't take pictures in the dark.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Great Lens Great lens very similar performance great color reproduction just like the original 4/3 14-42mm (both generations), very quick auto focus in good light. Like all Olympus products very sturdy and well built products at a great price i have been shooting Olympus for 3yrs and i haven't been disappointed. Only con is why did Olympus create the optional adapters for the Mark 2 (MSC) design only but i intend to purchase actually lens for the fish-eye effect and for macro.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from A great second lens! I use the 17mm lens as the primary lens on my E-P2 but keep this zoom in my bag for those shots that require a little more flexibility. The lens feels solid, the zoom ring has a great feel and the image quality is great.
