How long is the screw on top *without* the nut? (I don't plan to use it.)
It is about 5/8" long not counting the nut.

Is the knob metal or plastic?
Plastic. But everything else is metal. Never had a problem with it.

Can the 1/4-20 stud be removed? Is there a set screw holding it in place or have they used Lock-tight? I'd like to remove it and use a carriage bolt through a yoke into this adapter's 1/4-20 threads. Thanks!

Is the silver nut pictured on the 1/4 20 stem removable? And is the top of the adapter fully flat underneath that? I'm looking to mount it under a slider. Thanks!
